Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil or mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
  • 8–15 years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemicals industry experience.
  • Experience sizing calculations for major process equipment, hydraulics, relief devices, PFDs & P&IDs.
  • Experience executing greenfield and/or brownfield projects onshore.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Chevron and industry engineering standards.
  • Support design packages and change management processes.
  • Deliver engineering construction work packages meeting design specs.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Technical functions.
  • Participate in safety reviews (HazOps, HazAn) as applicable.
  • Manage multiple project deliverables concurrently.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot equipment and systems.

Job description

Senior Project Design Engineer

The Design Engineer is part of the Projects Design Engineering organization within the Chevron ENGINE center. This role provides design support to Chevron's Shale and Tight onshore assets and is responsible for supporting the analysis and development of engineering solutions for brownfield and greenfield projects. Additionally, this role provides remote technical support for operations, turnaround scope development, and various projects.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize Chevron and Industry Engineering Standards
  • Use a minimum functional objective (MFO) approach and utilize variance process to challenge Chevron standards when appropriate.
  • Demonstrated skilled proficiency in sizing calculations for all major types of process equipment, hydraulics, pressure relief and PFD and P&ID development.
  • Developing discipline deliverables (e.g. P&IDs, process flow diagram, area plot plans, dig plans, isometric drawings)
  • Support the management of change process for design packages and associated changes.
  • Delivery of engineering construction work package meeting the applicable design specifications. This will require collaboration with Operations, Maintenance and Technical functions within Chevron’s assets.
  • Participating and contributing to safety reviews (HazOps, HazAn, etc.), as applicable
  • Managing multiple project deliverables concurrently
  • Provide guidance for technical inquiries, issue technical recommendations, provide equipment and system troubleshooting, improve engineering tools and support the development and improvement of engineering work processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or civil or mechanical engineering (B.E.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university. 3 years minimum on site-based facility experience
  • 8-15years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemicals industry experience
  • Experience and proficiency in sizing calculations for all major types of process equipment, hydraulics, pressure relief and PFD and P&ID development.
  • Experience executing greenfield and/or brownfield projects in onshore, upstream, oil and gas facilities
