Job summary

Analog Devices is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to design and validate embedded Linux/Zephyr/FreeRTOS based solutions, focusing on ADI microcontrollers and processors. You will develop demos, support customers, and drive product adoption across automotive, consumer, and industrial markets.

The role requires strong C programming, ARM Cortex expertise, and hands-on Linux internals experience. Travel of about 10–15% may be expected as projects demand onsite and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with strong fundamentals.
  • 6–8 years of embedded systems experience is preferred.
  • Experience with ARM Cortex MCUs and Linux-based development is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop customer-facing demos and POCs using embedded Linux/Zephyr/FreeRTOS based applications and their device drivers.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer questions on embedded Linux/Zephyr/FreeRTOS issues.
  • Collaborate with development teams on enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Perform system-level validation on ADI microcontrollers and processors.
  • Engage with Tier-1/OEM customers onsite/offsite to accelerate production transition.
  • Create technical articles, demo platforms, and deliver training sessions for customers and sales/support teams.
  • Understand system-level requirements for targeted markets and work with cross-functional teams on product definition.

Analog Devices' Digital Business Group is looking for a passionate and highly skilled Applications engineer with a strong foundation in embedded systems, Linux & RTOS on areas of support, development, with good communication skills. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate across teams to support product adoption in Automotive, Consumer, Industrial, and multimarket applications.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop customer-facing demos and POCs using embedded Linux / Zephyr / FreeRTOS based applications and their associated device drivers.
  • Be the first point of contact for supporting customer questions on issues related to embedded Linux / Zephyr / FreeRTOS.
  • Work with developer team on enhancements and bugs.
  • Perform system-level validation using Linux / Zephyr / FreeRTOS on ADI microcontrollers and processors.
  • Collaborate with Tier-1 and OEM customers (onsite/offsite) to resolve technical challenges and accelerate their transition to production.
  • Create technical articles, demo platforms, and deliver training sessions for customers and internal ADI sales/support teams.
  • Understand system-level requirements for targeted markets/applications and work with cross-functional teams on product definition and execution.
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, with strong fundamentals in microprocessors/microcontrollers, embedded Linux having 6-8 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience in ARM Cortex Microcontrollers and associated tools.
  • Proficiency in C programming is mandatory.
  • Experienced in developing software solutions for resource-constrained environments, with hands-on expertise in Linux internals, kernel configuration, BSP customization, and cross-platform application development.
  • Possesses good knowledge of real-time operating systems including standard OS such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr, with experience in task scheduling, inter-process communication, memory management, and low-latency system design.
  • Strong knowledge on microcontroller software topics such as Stack, Heap, Memory optimization, multi-core communication etc.
  • Solid understanding of and familiarity with protocols such as I2C, I2S, SPI, UART.
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Linux drivers for Networking, USB, Audio, SD/eMMC.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and a positive team contributor.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally (10%–15%).
