Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Principal, Entrepreneur-in-Residence based in India.

The Senior Principal, Entrepreneur-in-Residence will lead the creation and development of a global market-shaping platform designed to accelerate the adoption of passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) technologies. This innovative initiative aims to turn promising cooling solutions into scalable, affordable products that can help protect communities from extreme heat. Operating at the intersection of climate technology, public health, manufacturing, finance, and policy, you will bring together investors, governments, manufacturers, and deployment partners around a shared mission. You will shape the market mechanisms, financing structures, and supply chains needed to support large-scale production and deployment. You will also secure funding, recruit and lead a high-performing team, and establish the foundations for a potentially independent organization. This is a unique opportunity to build a new venture with the potential to deliver significant public health, environmental, and economic impact, particularly across high-heat regions of the Global South.

Accountabilities
  • Create and lead a new market-shaping platform to accelerate the development, commercialization, and large-scale deployment of PDRC technologies.

  • Design a framework for rapid technology scale-up, identifying the most effective market mechanisms to achieve broad adoption and lower costs. Potential approaches may include intellectual property acquisition, direct procurement support, and advance market commitments.

  • Identify and engage the key stakeholders required to scale PDRC solutions, including investors, philanthropic organizations, established paint manufacturers, commercial customers, government agencies, and grassroots deployment partners.

  • Build a coalition of stakeholders and secure the commitments needed to stimulate large-scale, affordable PDRC production.

  • Develop a deployment strategy that connects commercial applications, such as warehouses, data centers, housing developments, and cold chains, with initiatives serving vulnerable communities.

  • Structure approaches through which commercial deployments can help cross-subsidize access to cooling solutions in underserved and heat-vulnerable communities.

  • Build, recruit, and lead a high-performing team to drive the platform's strategy, operations, partnerships, and implementation.

  • Lead fundraising efforts and secure the financial commitments required to establish and sustain the initiative.

  • Establish the operating model and organizational foundations for the platform, potentially supporting its evolution into an independent nonprofit organization.

Requirements
  • At least 12 years of experience building and scaling new ventures, market-shaping initiatives, or field-building organizations in climate, public health, or global development.

  • Demonstrated success delivering initiatives at scale, such as mobilizing significant capital, creating new markets, or expanding programs from pilot projects to deployment across multiple countries.

  • Proven fundraising experience, including securing multi-million-dollar commitments from philanthropic organizations, governments, development finance institutions, or corporate partners.

  • Direct experience designing, negotiating, and executing large-scale market mechanisms, such as advance market commitments, pooled or aggregated procurement, volume guarantees, technology transfer agreements, or intellectual property arrangements.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams from the ground up, including talent recruitment, strategic direction, and organizational governance. Experience establishing or spinning out an independent organization is an advantage.

  • Strong understanding of blended finance and supply-side development, including structuring concessional and commercial capital and reducing investment risks associated with manufacturing scale-up.

  • Established professional credibility and a strong network capable of building relationships with senior executives, government ministers, investors, and major funders.

  • Confidence representing an initiative publicly and building support among diverse stakeholders.

  • Technical familiarity with materials science, paints and coatings, or manufacturing scale-up is preferred.

  • Experience in cooling technologies, building materials, or the built environment is an advantage.

  • Previous experience working in India or other high-heat markets across the Global South is preferred.

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, define strategy independently, and develop an operating model for an emerging market or technology category.

  • Willingness to be based in India or travel there frequently. The position may otherwise be based internationally.

Benefits
  • Annual base compensation of USD 150,000–200,000.

  • Eligibility for an additional performance-based bonus.

  • Full-time position with an international remote working arrangement.

  • Opportunity to build and lead a new global initiative addressing climate resilience and public health.

  • Initial funding for a 12-month term. The role may transition into a permanent staff position if additional funding is secured.
