Ashnik Pte Ltd in Mumbai is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Platform & Observability Architect to design enterprise‑grade PostgreSQL architectures across VMs, Kubernetes, OpenShift and cloud. You will lead observability initiatives with Elasticsearch and OpenTelemetry.
The role is hands‑on, customer‑facing and requires deep expertise in PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB and cloud platforms. You will build dashboards, runbooks and performance improvement plans for complex environments.

- 8+ years in IT infrastructure, database or platform engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise‑grade PostgreSQL platforms for production workloads.
- Architect high availability, disaster recovery, backup and replication solutions using PostgreSQL ecosystem tools.
- Perform deep PostgreSQL performance tuning, query optimization and production troubleshooting.
- Design PostgreSQL architectures for different platforms including physical servers, virtual machines, Kubernetes, OpenShift and public cloud.
- Work with EnterpriseDB technologies including EDB Postgres Advanced Server, EDB Failover Manager, EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager, EDB Backup and Recovery, EDB Replication Server and migration tools.
- Build observability solutions for PostgreSQL, infrastructure and application environments using Elasticsearch, Kibana, Elastic Agent, Beats, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana.
- Create dashboards, alerts and monitoring frameworks for performance, availability, capacity and reliability.
- Support customer discovery workshops, architecture discussions, health checks, performance reviews and migration assessments.
- Prepare solution designs, architecture documents, implementation plans, runbooks and best‑practice guides.

Job description
We are looking for a Senior PostgreSQL Platform & Observability Architect with deep hands‑on experience in PostgreSQL, performance tuning, high availability, backup, replication and EnterpriseDB technologies.
This is not a traditional DBA role. The person is expected to act as a platform architect who can design differentiated PostgreSQL architectures for different deployment environments such as VMs, Kubernetes, OpenShift and cloud. The role will also involve working on observability platforms, especially Elasticsearch, and helping customers monitor, troubleshoot and optimize their database and infrastructure environments.
The ideal candidate should be hands‑on, architecturally strong, customer‑facing and eager to work across PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB, Elastic, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, Linux and cloud platforms.

- 8+ years of overall IT infrastructure, database or platform engineering experience.
- 5+ years of strong hands‑on PostgreSQL experience in production environments.
- Strong experience in PostgreSQL performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, partitioning, vacuum, autovacuum, WAL, checkpoint tuning, memory tuning and connection management.
- Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL high availability and replication tools such as Patroni, repmgr, pg_auto_failover, streaming replication, logical replication, HAProxy, Keepalived and PgBouncer.
- Strong experience with backup and recovery tools such as pgBackRest, Barman, WAL‑G, PITR and backup validation.
- Good understanding of Linux, storage, networking, system performance, shell scripting and troubleshooting.
- Experience in designing PostgreSQL deployments on virtualized environments such as VMware, Hyper‑V or Nutanix.
- Understanding of Kubernetes and OpenShift concepts such as StatefulSets, Persistent Volumes, Storage Classes, Operators, node affinity, anti‑affinity, pod disruption budgets, rolling upgrades and failover.
- Exposure to PostgreSQL operators such as EDB Operator, CloudNativePG, CrunchyData Operator or similar technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, including managed PostgreSQL services and self‑managed PostgreSQL on cloud infrastructure.
- Good understanding of observability, monitoring, logging and alerting.
- Exposure to Elasticsearch, Kibana, Elastic Agent, Filebeat, Metricbeat, Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry.
- Education : Engineering Degree or equivalent
