Job summary

SymphonyAI is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to drive backend platform services and APIs, enabling scalable, secure self-service infrastructure. You will own Kubernetes-based solutions, implement Terraform automation, and shape CI/CD/GitOps across the org.

As a senior team member, you will mentor engineers, collaborate with SRE teams on observability, and contribute to internal developer platforms and workflows for faster product delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating cloud-native platforms on Azure and/or AWS.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise including cluster lifecycle and security best practices.
• Strong Terraform and IaC automation experience.
• Proficient in building scalable RESTful APIs with FastAPI or Java/Spring Boot.
• Hands-on data modeling with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.

Job Title:
Lead Platform Engineer

Overview:
SymphonyAI is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to join our Cloud Platform Infrastructure Enablement (CIE) team. As a senior member, you will design, build, and evolve scalable platform capabilities that empower development teams to efficiently build, deploy, and operate applications. You will work closely with engineering, SRE, and product teams to define platform standards, drive automation, and enhance the developer experience.
This role is critical for building backend platform services and APIs, enabling self-service infrastructure and developer workflows, and advancing the future of platform engineering and internal developer platforms.

Job Description

• Design and develop backend platform services and APIs using FastAPI (Python) and/or Java (Spring Boot or similar), ensuring scalable, secure, and well-documented RESTful interfaces
• Architect and lead the development of Kubernetes-based platform solutions (AKS/EKS) focused on scalability, reliability, and security
• Implement infrastructure automation with Terraform and follow Infrastructure as Code best practices
• Define and standardize CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and deployment frameworks across the organization
• Build and evolve internal developer platforms, including self-service provisioning, golden paths, and reusable templates
• Develop and manage data models and persistence layers using PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB for platform services
• Drive platform capabilities through well-defined APIs to enable automation, integrations, and extensibility
• Collaborate with frontend teams or contribute directly to full-stack development for internal developer portals and platform tools (nice-to-have)
• Lead platform architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices
• Collaborate with SRE teams to embed observability, reliability, and operational excellence into the platform
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence, best practices, and design standards
• Troubleshoot complex platform issues and lead root cause analysis for critical incidents

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure (preferred) and/or AWS; designing and operating cloud-native platforms
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, cluster lifecycle management, and platform design
• Advanced experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation patterns
• Strong experience building APIs using FastAPI (Python) and/or Java (Spring Boot or similar)
• Experience designing scalable, secure, and well-documented RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, performance tuning, and data modeling
• Strong experience in CI/CD platform design, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), and deployment strategies
• Expertise in Docker and container runtime ecosystems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar languages
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and high-availability architectures
• Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing, and SRE practices

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to frontend technologies (React, Vite, or similar)
• Ability to contribute to internal developer portals or platform UIs
• Experience in full-stack development is a strong plus
