Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Noida invites an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Public Health) to join our Tunnel Systems MEP team. You will lead design teams, coordinate multi-disciplinary projects, and deliver reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings from concept to construction.

You should have a degree plus Chartered Engineer status, membership of IMechE or CIBSE, and strong exposure to foul water ejector, tunnel drainage, water systems and fire safety in major transport

Qualifications

• Minimum degree with membership of a professional body (IMechE/CIBSE).
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience.
• Experience in large engineering/construction projects with mechanical systems design.

Responsibilities

• Lead design teams on projects.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Produce and deliver reports, specifications and drawings.
• Ensure QA for project deliverables.
• Present technical solutions to clients and stakeholders.

Job Description

We require an enthusiastic and motivated person to work as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Public Health) on projects within the Tunnel Systems MEP team.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Public Health) role spans the entire project lifecycle, from concept design to construction, including specifying and designing mechanical services for rail, tunnels, and stations within transport infrastructure. This involves detailed design calculations, selection of appropriate materials and equipment, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading design teams on projects.

Managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams.

Production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications, and drawings.

Ensuring the quality of technical deliverables, and supervision of activities in technical disciplines/business areas as appropriate.

Presenting technical solutions to clients and external stakeholders.

Production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings.

Ensure that all necessary quality assurance (QA) functions are carried out for the project in accordance with project procedures.

Input into bid management and business development.

Assist in the mentoring, management and technical development of engineers and apprentices.

The successful candidate will join a well-developed team which includes a wide range of experience from principal engineers, senior engineers, graduates, and apprentices. Passing on knowledge and developing younger staff is a fundamental part of our team culture to which this role will contribute.

Candidate Specification

Qualifications:

The candidate will hold the following essential academic and professional qualifications and experience.

Educated to minimum degree level with a membership of a relevant professional organisation (i.e., IMechE, CIBSE).

Chartered Engineer (with equivalent/relevant experience).

Essential Skills and Experience:

You will have experience of a similar role as a Public Health Engineer in an engineering and construction environment with full exposure to major project work. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate a mixture of the following:

Experience in working on large engineering and construction projects.

Experience of designing mechanical systems including all or most of the following;

foul water ejector systems

tunnel drainage

surface water pumped system

above-ground soil and waste systems

hot and cold-water systems

compressed air systems

tunnel fire main/hydrant systems

Multi discipline familiarisation across MEP and telecommunications systems.

Knowledge of key standards and legislation relevant to mechanical discipline.

Experience of working with and applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Excellent communication skills as required for business development.

Proven ability to work within tight deadlines and act on own initiative where appropriate.

Proactive attitude, a willingness to engage and adapt, and apply previous skills/experience to new (potentially unfamiliar) challenges.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Strong analytical, organisational skills with a good attention to detail.

Experience using industry standard software for mechanical engineering.

A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with common data environment principles.

Depending on project requirements, there may also be a need to travel to other locations (company or client, office or site) within the UK or overseas.

Membership of a relevant professional organisation (i.e., IMechE, CIBSE).
