Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for Traction Power Supply Systems in Rail Electrification, based in Pune. You will prepare mechanical drawings, design switchgear concepts with NX, and maintain data in Teamcenter while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

You will contribute to standards compliance, support electrical schematic knowledge, and manage work packages for timely, cost‑effective delivery in a global project setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Knowledge of switchgear construction and rail cabinet construction.
• Proficient with NX or similar 3D CAD tools.
• Familiar with European and International Standards.
• Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and components.
• Understanding of engineering processes and documentation.
• Experience in international project environments preferred.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical drawings for DC switchgears and cubicles for traction power systems.
• Design switchgear concepts using 3D modeling and NX; model components.
• Maintain product data in Teamcenter and ensure documentation.
• Develop conceptual solutions for demanding technical requirements.
• Provide technical support with manufacturing and project teams.
• Plan and control own engineering work packages for time, cost, quality.
• Support standardization and documentation efforts.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Traction Power Supply Systems – Rail Electrification

You’ll Make a Difference By

• Preparation of mechanical design drawings for DC switchgears and cubicles (For Traction Power Supply Systems in the field of Railway Electrification) considering both, the customer specifications and the Siemens’ regulations and international standards
• Methodic design of switchgears with the 3D-tool” NX”, modeling of components
• Maintaining of product data/documentations in Teamcenter
• Elaboration of conceptional solutions and finding answers to ambitious constructive requirements
• Technical support, analysis of technical problems and answering of technical inquiries in collaboration with the manufacturing, the project engineering team, and the project management.
• Planning and controlling of one’s own engineering work packages in view of date, cost, and quality aspects.
• Product support in view of standardization and documentation.

You’ll Win Us Over By

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering,
• Knowledge of switchgear construction and cubicle/cabinet (sheet metal) construction in rail industry
• CAD-tools NX or another solid 3D modeling program
• Knowledge of relevant European and International Standards
• Basic knowledge of electrical engineering (schematic and wiring diagrams), electrical components
• Knowledge of engineering processes
• Experience in project realization, preferably in an international project environment
• Verbal and written fluency in English

Desirable

• Experience in NX-Teamcenter program or equivalent
• Experience in switchgear construction and cubicle/cabinet construction in rail industry
• Experience in project realization, preferably in an international project environment.
