What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to lead the planning, design, execution, and delivery of test automation & inspection automation projects implemented across Dover factories worldwide.

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving project execution and technical integrity of test automation solutions delivered by global test automation suppliers with focus on Indian automation suppliers. This includes defining test strategies and excellence playbook, overseeing execution, and ensuring alignment with global quality, safety, and compliance standards. Your leadership will be key to delivering cost-effective and deployment-ready solutions that support Dovers advanced manufacturing goals worldwide.

What you will be responsible for in this role:
  • Collaborate with global teams to align project objectives and test protocols.
  • Engage with Dover factories across APAC, NA and EMEA regions to understand expectations and ensure test strategies and execution plans are aligned with global manufacturing and deployment requirements.
  • Lead the planning, definition, and delivery of functional test automation.
  • Provide technical leadership and project ownership from concept to production deployment for end-of-line testers, leak testers, hydraulic benches, electrical safety rigs, and inspection systems.
  • Coordinating, preparing, reviewing Statement of Work (SOW) with Global Dover Automation teams.
  • Schedule meetings onsite, offsite, conferences with dover factories & supplier.
  • Manage Project plannings, timeline, status, reports, timelines, prepare proposals, projects trackers, etc.
  • Lead the planning, definition, and delivery of Inspection automation programs.
  • Provide technical leadership and project ownership from concept to production deployment Inspection systems (Vision, laser, ultrasonic, etc.) for quality & improvements.
  • Plan and supervise PoC evaluations for new functional testing approaches.
  • Oversee the development and field trials of prototype test benches for validating new processes such as digital leak testing, high-pressure validation, electrical failure simulation, or sensor-based measurements.
  • Oversee the execution of validation and testing for hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure robust test planning and execution for systems involving pressure decay, burst testing, flow verification, electrical continuity, insulation resistance, and force/displacement measurements.
  • Identify, develop, and manage automation solution partners for building functional test equipment.
  • Evaluate and coordinate with vendors specializing in fluid power, electrical panels, test rig fabrication, control systems, and metrology toolsensuring reliable, safe, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Review and approve supplier-developed test concepts, quotes, protocols and validation methods.
  • Assess the adequacy of testing parameters such as test pressure, flow rates, leak limits, electrical load conditions, calibration tolerances, and functional checkpoints based on part requirements and industry benchmarks.
  • Review the supplier concepts, quotes, prepare Proposals for Dover factories, coordinate with multiple departments for budget reviews & capex controls.
  • Validate technical proposals, rig designs, control strategies, and sensor integrations.
  • Conduct engineering reviews of hydraulic and pneumatic circuit layouts, electrical cabinet schematics, DAQ/PLC logic, sensor placements (pressure, flow, current, displacement), and interface controls (HMI/SCADA).
  • Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoC), Design of Experiments (DoE).
  • Perform Risk analysis, report preparing, risk mitigation solutions.
  • Coordinate FAT/SAT of functional test systems with suppliers and Dover factories.
  • Lead detailed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at supplier facilities to verify functionality, safety, electrical compliance, hydraulic/pneumatic integrity, and adherence to cycle time and accuracy benchmarks prior to shipment.
  • Define FAT checklist covering PLC/DAQ program logic validation, calibration certification, emergency stop functionality, interlock testing, leak and pressure test accuracy, HMI sequences, and GR&R results.
  • Plan and execute Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at Dover facilities, ensuring integration with factory utilities, compliance with ergonomic and floor layout constraints, and final verification of performance repeatability in production conditions.
  • Document all FAT/SAT observations with pass/fail criteria, deviation logs, and corrective actions; involve cross-functional sign-off with engineering, safety, and plant quality teams before system handover.
  • Ensure test systems meet operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Deliver solutions that meet critical-to-quality metrics such as pressure stability, leak thresholds, electrical insulation performance, cycle time targets, and traceability.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards (e.g., CE, ISO 4413/4414, IEC 61010, UL, etc.).
  • Monitor compliance throughout the test system lifecycle, including mechanical, fluid power, and electrical safety regulations applicable to industrial testing environments.
  • Coordinate automation, controls, and data acquisition for functional test equipment.
  • Ensure robust integration of PLCs, HMIs, industrial PCs, safety relays, and DAQ systems with measurement instrumentation like pressure sensors, flow meters, load cells, CMMs, and voltage/current transducers.
  • Drive the strategy for data connectivity, SCADA integration, and test traceability.
  • Define architecture for test result logging, real-time monitoring, and linkage with MES systems to ensure complete digital traceability and analytics-ready test data.
  • Promote the use of structured validation tools such as PFMEA, control plans, and RCA.
  • Ensure proactive risk mitigation and fast issue resolution through systematic analysis tools during design, validation, and production handover stages.
  • Ensure traceable documentation of test results, deviations, and compliance logs.
  • Maintain structured reporting for each system including pass/fail data, leak rate charts, pressure curves, electrical test logs, deviation records, and root-cause tracking.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in test strategy and partner capabilities.
  • Benchmark functional test performance, cycle times, cost of testing, and uptimedriving improvements in supplier offerings and in-house standards.
  • Support knowledge transfer and capability building across sites
  • Enable cross-functional learning by sharing best practices in functional test rig design, performance tuning, maintenance practices, and fault diagnosis.
  • Schedule webinars, share case studies, introduce dover factories to new & proven industry solutions.
What are the basic qualifications?
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial technology or equivalent mix of education and experience Test automation coordination or project management experience in manufacturing system testing.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of production, operation and manufacturing support.
  • Minimum five (5) experience in testing or validating through robotic systems, vision inspection solutions, or automated machines.
  • Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience in testing e.g. Mechanical Testing, functional testing, Hydraulics, Leak, Pneumatic, electric test, inspections, measurements, Pressure, etc.
What are the preferred qualifications?
  1. 1. Familiarity with industrial testing like leak, pressure, EOL, endurance, scanning, measurements, etc. etc. and vision-based inspection testing methodologies.
  2. 2. Solid understanding of mechanical devices and automation hardware, including sensors, indexers, pick-and-place mechanisms, PLCs, inverters, and servo systems.
  3. 3. Hands-on technical experience in testing with robotic and Cobot systems, including validation of motion sequences, safety, and repeatability.
  4. 4. Experience conducting and executing FAT/SAT activities and validating automation systems from outsourced vendors.
  5. 5. Exposure to controls validation, test script development, and failure analysis within factory automation environments.
  6. 6. Working knowledge of MES, SCADA, and data acquisition systems used in automated test environments
  7. 7. Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or EPLAN
  8. 8. Experience with test simulation tools (e.g., FlexSim, RoboDK, Visual Components, Factory Flow, etc.) is a plus
  9. 9. Understanding of industrial safety standards (e.g., ISO, CE, UL) and commitment to enforcing safety protocols during test & validation
