Roku is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering for the Browse and Discovery Platform in Bengaluru. You will lead a team of backend engineers, owning the technical roadmap and delivering scalable services that connect content, product capabilities, and user experiences across Roku devices.

Qualificações

• 10+ years of software development experience with deep technical expertise in building high-availability, large-scale distributed systems and services
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing engineering teams and driving software development projects from conception to delivery
• Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams
• Strong proficiency in Java or a similar backend programming language, with experience designing and developing APIs and cloud-based services
• Deep understanding of backend technologies, architecture patterns, and best practices, including microservices, RESTful APIs, message queues, caching, and databases
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience operating production services at scale, including performance optimization, observability, and incident response
• Strong ability to make practical trade-offs and drive programs with autonomy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

What is the role?

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering on the Browse and Discovery Platform team, you will own engineering for featured experiences and lead key components of the browse platform. You will lead and grow a team of backend engineers building the services and APIs that connect content, product capabilities, and user experiences across Roku devices. This role requires strong technical leadership in distributed systems, cloud services, and backend architecture, paired with the ability to translate evolving product requirements into reliable, scalable solutions. You will define technical direction, guide architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver new experiences from concept through launch. The successful candidate will balance product delivery with long-term platform development while developing engineers and promoting a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
