Smart Delivery Technologies (SDT) is on a mission to make Amazon's delivery network the world's safest and most efficient logistics operation. Through automation and human augmentation, the team improves both associate and transporter safety while optimizing every step of the journey from delivery station to the customer's doorstep. SDT envisions a future where every delivery vehicle, smart delivery device, and workstation operates as a unified intelligent system that perceives, understands, and responds in real time protecting people, accelerating operations, and building best-in-class delivery systems for Amazon logistics. As a Sr. Manager of this team, you will own the specific part of technical charter to drive this vision forward, leading innovation across hardware, software, and embedded systems to deliver scalable, safety-first solutions that transform last mile delivery.

As a Sr Manager, Software Development, you'll assemble and mentor a team of engineers to solve complex technical and business challenges while owning the evolution of systems that process petabytes of data and support several critical functions. You will own and drive the next generation, world class software engineering systems and part of hardware systems.

You'll work in a collaborative environment where you can think strategically, move quickly, and directly influence how customers leverage data to achieve business success.

Key job responsibilities

• Assemble and lead an engineering team to solve challenging technical and business problems, while fostering a collaborative environment where team members can grow and contribute meaningfully
• Own the day-to-day maintenance and evolution of software systems and platforms that serve our delivery business, ensuring reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including product, hardware, finance, data science, and business intelligence teams to understand requirements, scope technical solutions, and prioritize work
• Make data-driven decisions by analyzing system performance, user feedback, and business metrics to inform recommendations for product and operational improvements
• Communicate clearly and persuasively with engineers, peers, and leadership through written documentation, presentations, and discussions to align on strategy and drive execution

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience
• 5+ years of engineering team management experience
• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
