Job summary

Farmers for Forests in Ranchi seeks an experienced operations leader to manage the field team across 3–5 districts for agroforestry implementation. You will ensure targets are met within budget and timeline, and coordinate procurement and inputs with vendors.

The role includes data quality checks, stakeholder engagement, weekly progress meetings, and exploring expansion opportunities with FPOs, NGOs, and government officers to scale impact.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in large-scale project management or operations.
  • Preferably in environmental, rural development, or sustainability sector.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in client relations and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and monitoring the field team in 3 to 5 districts for agroforestry implementation.
  • Ensuring all Field Managers and Field Team adhere to the implementation model.
  • Explain targets to the team and prepare monthly plans within budget and timeline.
  • Key stakeholder for data quality checks for operations-related data.
  • Discuss material requirements (saplings, drip, compost) with field managers.
  • Prepare procurement schedules to minimize sapling losses during handling.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of inputs at all locations.
  • Identify new expansion areas by connecting with FPOs, NGOs, and government officers.
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings with the field team and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Develop new strategies to scale up operations as per targets.
  • Lead operations training sessions to keep the team motivated.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities



  • Managing and monitoring the field team in 3 to 5 districts for agroforestry implementation.

  • Ensuring all Field Managers and Field Team are adhering to the implementation model.

  • Clearly explaining the operational targets to the team and preparing monthly plans to ensure successful implementation within the budget and timeline.

  • Key stakeholder for data quality checks for operations-related data.

  • Discussing with field managers the material requirements (saplings, drip, compost).

  • Preparing procurement schedules to ensure minimum loss of saplings during handling.

  • Coordinating with the vendors to ensure timely delivery of inputs at all locations.

  • Identifying new areas adjoining current areas for expansion by connecting with key stakeholders in the region including FPOs, NGOs, and government officers.

  • Conducting weekly progress meetings with the field team, identifying bottlenecks, and finding solutions for the same.

  • Figuring out new strategies to scale up operations as per the planned targets.

  • Conducting operations training sessions for the field team and helping them stay motivated.


Requirements


  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in large-scale project management or operations.

  • Preferably in the environmental, rural development, or sustainability sector.

  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in client relations.

  • Experience in budgeting.

  • Experience in on-ground execution.
