Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering within the Infrastructure Platforms team. You will mentor multiple engineering teams, guide architectural decisions, and influence budget and tooling choices to drive efficiency and reliability.

This senior leadership role emphasizes accountable delivery, cross-team collaboration, and adoption of enterprise‑approved AI-assisted development practices, with a strong focus on security and resiliency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience leading software teams
• Hands-on software engineering with Python frameworks
• Experience with enterprise‑level AI‑assisted development and governance

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, oversight, and coaching for entry-level to mid-level software engineers working on basic to moderately complex tasks
• Be accountable for decisions impacting resources, budget, tactical operations, and process implementation
• Advocate firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work, escalating as necessary
• Sets and scales operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establishes measurable expectations (e.g., throughput, defect reduction, reliability) and ensures consistent validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive efficiency and support capacity unlock initiatives across teams, prioritizing reuse of existing firm technology assets.
• Provide input to leadership on budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality
• Foster a culture of opportunity and respect for team members

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading software teams
• Hands‑on expertise in Python, Django, Flask
• Ability to guide and coach teams to achieve strategic goals
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience leading multi‑team adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted development and delivery tools, including defining governance/ways of working (human‑in‑the‑loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and control expectations; ability to coach managers/leads and influence leaders on safe scaling patterns.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
