Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering in its Consumer and Community Banking Technology group. You will mentor multiple engineering teams, drive Java/Spring Boot microservices and React/Angular UI work, and shape delivery through Agile planning, architecture input, and security practices.

You will influence platform strategy, oversee SDLC automation, and champion responsible AI usage while building a strong engineering culture and talent pipeline across teams.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain.
• Strong background in full-stack development: Java/Spring Boot microservices and React or Angular (TypeScript/JavaScript).

Responsibilities

• Sets and scales operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establishes measurable expectations and ensures consistent validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to drive efficiency and support capacity unlock initiatives across teams, prioritizing reuse of existing firm technology assets.
• Lead and develop a team of full-stack engineers delivering Java/Spring Boot services and React/Angular UI experiences.
• Own delivery outcomes (scope, timelines, quality, operational readiness) and manage execution through Agile planning and sprint ceremonies.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards: secure coding, code reviews, test strategy, CI/CD quality gates, and observability.
• Drive platform reliability and operational excellence: incident response readiness, root-cause analysis, preventative controls, and reduction of repeat issues.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data & Analytics, and dependent platform teams to refine requirements, manage dependencies, and deliver iteratively.
• Influence architecture and technical strategy across services and domains; ensure scalability, resiliency, and performance objectives are met.
• Coach and mentor engineers and technical leads; build a strong talent pipeline through hiring, onboarding, and performance management.

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking technology team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
• Strong background in full-stack development: Java/Spring Boot microservices and React or Angular (TypeScript/JavaScript).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and integrations (e.g., Kafka producers/consumers), including retries, idempotency, DLQs, error handling, failure recovery, and operational readiness.
• Experience with cloud and platform technologies (e.g., AWS and/or Cloud Foundry, containers, CI/CD pipelines).
• Strong engineering fundamentals in automated testing, performance, observability and monitoring tools, and operational stability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-team delivery, manage competing priorities, and drive alignment across stakeholders.
• Strong experience in providing software solutions using SQL and No SQL databases and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of secure engineering practices and designing to meet Cyber Security and Technology Control requirements (e.g., authentication/authorization, secure APIs, data protection, dependency hygiene).
• Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including defining governance/ways of working (human-in-the-loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and control expectations; ability to coach managers/leads and influence leaders on safe scaling patterns.
• Practical cloud native experience
