Whirlpool India Limited in Pune is seeking a senior CFD and 1D system modeling leader to guide advanced fluid-thermal simulations for cooking products. You will build a Center of Excellence, align roadmaps with platform goals, and mentor engineers across a global team.

The role oversees 20+ CFD and System Modeling engineers, defines long-term simulation roadmaps, and delivers cost-effective design solutions while advancing technical excellence in fluid dynamics and heat transfer.

Competenze

• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field).
• 12–15+ years in CFD, heat transfer, and systems engineering in manufacturing or R&D.
• Experience leading large technical teams (15–20+ engineers).

The team you will be a part of

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This Role In Summary

This position will be responsible for improving the fluid and thermal performance of cooking products and projects through advanced CFD and 1D system simulations. Blending deep technical mastery in 3D CFD, thermal and 1D system performance modeling with strong people management, and will align simulation roadmaps with platform goals, foster innovation, and drive technical excellence across complex fluid-thermal engineering challenges.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Beyond individual technical mastery, you will build a Center of Excellence for simulation. You will be responsible for defining long-term simulation roadmaps, mentoring senior and junior engineers, and bridging the gap between theoretical physics, numerical modeling, and real-world physical testing. The ideal candidate will translate complex cooking thermal and fluid challenges into robust mathematical models, execute high-level optimizations, and ultimately deliver actionable, cost-effective design solutions that elevate our global cooking product portfolio.

Strategic Leadership & People Management

• Scale and Direct a High-Performing Team: Lead a diverse group of 20+ CFD and System Modeling engineers. Define team structure, allocate project resources, and manage overall workload to ensure timely delivery of simulation milestones.
• Technical Mentorship & Capability Building: Act as the ultimate technical escalation point. Coach engineers on complex flow, thermal, and multiphase problems, and guide them in developing new simulation capabilities and advanced methodologies.
• Roadmap & Strategy Alignment: Partner with Platform Directors and R&D stakeholders to align the System Performance development roadmap with broader business objectives, ensuring simulation strategies proactively support future product pipelines.
• Performance & Culture: Conduct performance reviews, establish clear KPIs for simulation accuracy and turnaround time, and foster a culture of critical thinking, continuous learning, and accountability.

Minimum Requirements

• Academic Pedigree: Master’s Degree or Ph.D. strictly in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Domain Experience: 12 to 15+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and systems engineering within a complex manufacturing or R&D environment.
• Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in directly managing, mentoring, and scaling large technical teams (15–20+ engineers).

Preferred Skills And Experiences

• CFD Solvers: Master-level, proven expertise in Ansys Fluent, FLOEFD, or OpenFOAM
• 1D/System Modeling: Master-level expertise in Dymola and 1D system modeling, with a strong ability to formulate underlying mathematical equations from scratch.
• Pre-Processing/CAD: High proficiency in Ansys Workbench, SpaceClaim, Creo, and specialized meshing tools.
• Engineering Sciences: Deep theoretical understanding and practical application of Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, and Systems Engineering principles.
• Quality & Optimization: Solid exposure to Six Sigma tools, Design of Experiments (DoE), and Response Surface Methodology (RSM).
• Expert in Product Development process.
• Expert in project planning & management.
• Exposure/experience of working in a global engineering team environment
• Team player, flexibility in adapting to quickly changing business task/project priorities.
• Good business communication (written/verbal) and Presentation skills.
