Job summary

Vanguard India in Hyderabad is seeking a seasoned data science and engineering leader to head an enterprise-scale AI evaluation and platform team. The role combines hands-on AI/ML work with people leadership and collaboration across product, platform, architecture, and governance functions.

You will guide a portfolio of analytics projects, ensure production readiness, and push cutting-edge GenAI capabilities while partnering with stakeholders to translate business questions into scalable data

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in analytical roles with progressive leadership responsibilities in data science and large-scale analytics initiatives.
• Deep expertise in AI/GenAI evaluation, benchmarking, and evaluation harnesses.
• Strong Python and software/platform engineering experience.
• AWS and cloud-native architecture experience.
• Experience with LLM/GenAI systems, observability, monitoring, and production readiness.
• MLOps/LLMOps, CI/CD, APIs, and scalable distributed systems.
• Strong cross-functional and senior stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience in regulated enterprise environments preferred.

Role Summary

Lead a multidisciplinary team of data scientists and engineers building enterprise-scale AI evaluation and platform capabilities. The role will focus on AI/GenAI evaluation, evaluation harness engineering, scalable platform infrastructure, and production AI quality and observability. We are looking for a strong technical leader who can combine hands‑on AI/ML and engineering depth with people leadership, while partnering across product, platform, architecture, and governance teams.

Responsibilities

• Assists and executes tactical plans to implement Vanguard's data science strategy to increase internal company performance and gain competitive advantage.
• Manages a team of data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making. Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.
• Oversees and engages in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making. Creates alternative model approaches to assess complex model design and advance future capabilities.
• Identifies and diagnoses data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps. Provides coaching to data scientists.
• Oversees the execution of large scale analytics projects. Applies significant quality control and risk assessment of the model, methodologies, outputs, and processes for major data science projects.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes in order to develop hypotheses. Brings structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
• Leads and coaches test design, research design, and model validation. Provides statistical consultation services. Serves as the analytics expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contributes to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
• Evaluates new technologies and manages vendors engaged in big data analysis.
• Designs data mining frameworks and statistical protocols to extract and monitor patterns within high‑volume datasets across functional business domains.
• Applies cutting‑edge data science principles and machine learning techniques to create models that support strategic business initiatives across areas like marketing, economics, and operations.
• Participates in data-driven innovation by contributing to scientific research projects that aim to develop new analytical approaches and expand the organization's data capabilities.
