Job summary

Procore Technologies, Inc. in India seeks a Senior Manager of Engineering for the Authorization team to lead a pivotal group delivering intuitive authorization experiences, platform enablement, and scalable policy enforcement across enterprise datasets.

You will partner with US-based IAM teams, drive architectural strategy for fast policy evaluations, champion developer enablement and clean APIs, and mentor senior engineers to foster technical mastery and innovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading software engineering teams, with hiring and coaching success.
• Experience coordinating across regions/time zones (US focus).
• 8+ years building scalable distributed backend systems for high-throughput checks.
• Strong focus on developer ergonomics, UX, and API design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-geo alignment.
• Knowledge of RBAC, ABAC, or Zanzibar-style models is a plus.

What You’ll Do

• Cross-Geo Engineering Leadership: Partner seamlessly with US-based engineering teams to co-design, co-build, and roll out core platform authorization capabilities.
• Scaling for Huge Datasets: Oversee the architectural strategy and execution to scale authorization engines capable of performing fast policy evaluations across massive enterprise datasets.
• User Experience & Ease of Adoption: Champion exceptional user experience and developer enablement, delivering clean APIs, SDKs, and intuitive admin tooling to accelerate platform-wide adoption.
• Strategic Technical Vision: Translate enterprise requirements into scalable technical roadmaps for fine-grained authorization, policy enforcement, and access controls.
• People Leadership & Growth: Mentor, coach, and empower a team of senior and staff engineers, cultivating an inclusive culture of technical mastery and continuous innovation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, Security, Architecture, and enterprise stakeholders across geographies to align authorization roadmap goals with company growth.

Qualifications

• Engineering Leadership Experience: 5+ years of experience directly managing software engineering teams, with a track record of hiring, coaching, and scaling senior technical talent.
• Cross-Geo / Distributed Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead engineering initiatives that rely heavily on tight collaboration across regions and time zones (specifically with US engineering teams).
• High-Scale Software Systems: Deep background (8+ years in software engineering) building and scaling distributed backend architectures that execute high-throughput query/permission checks on massive datasets.
• Developer Enablement & UX Empathy: Strong focus on developer ergonomics, platform ease-of-adoption, intuitive admin interfaces, and clear API design.
• Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to align cross-geo partners, executives, and cross-functional leadership on technical vision.
• Identity & Access Control Knowledge (nice to have): Good grasp of one or several Authorization concepts (RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, Fine-Grained Authorization, Open Policy Agent / Zanzibar models).
