Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) seeks a Senior Linux System Engineer to maintain high-performance data capture systems and evolve the data pipeline that captures, stores, and transforms global capital markets data.

You will work on containerized deployments with Docker/Podman, automation with Ansible, and collaboration across engineering teams. The role requires Linux expertise, scripting, and familiarity with AWS and networking basics.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7+ years of Linux experience (RHEL preferred).
• 5+ years scripting Bash and/or Python.
• Experience using Ansible to automate provisioning and configuration management.
• Proficiency with Linux server architecture, performance and latency tuning.
• Experience deploying and managing containerized apps (Docker/Podman).
• Familiarity with GitLab and/or GitHub pipelines.
• Basic networking knowledge and ability to interpret capture outputs (Wireshark/tcpdump).
• Experience with AWS, S3, AWS CLI, and Rsync.
• English proficiency required.
• Willingness to work US Eastern hours for training and some weekends for deployments.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-performance data capture systems as part of the data pipeline (capture, store, transform).
• Contribute to design/implementation of scalable data pipelines and deployment automation.
• Tune performance and latency of Linux servers and workloads.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for provisioning and configuration management.
• Deploy and operate containerized applications using Docker/Podman in production.

Current strategic pursuits

The Senior Linux System Engineer will be responsible for high-performance data capture systems. We have the mission of "Capturing, Storing and Transforming" the world's capital markets data. In this critical role, you’ll be an integral member of a team managing the data pipeline that flows between each of those stages.The role has a large operational component while also requiringsomeone to envision future growth in both utilization and technology selection for the components of work.

Work Qualifications

• 5 to 7+ years of professional experience with Linux, preferably RHEL or RHEL derived distributions (CentOS, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux)
• 5+ years of experience with scripting languages Bash and/or Python
• Significant experience using Ansible to develop and maintain playbooks and roles to automate server provisioning and configuration management
• Proficiency withLinux and an understandingof Linux server architecture and operation including performance and latency tuning
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing containerized applications using Docker, Podman or other containerization technology in production environments
• Should beverycomfortable with data copying, scheduling tasks and Linux daemons
• Extensive experience with application deployments and OS updates, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies for potential failures
• Experience with Git-based version control systems, such as GitLab and/or GitHub and managing pipeline in these products
• Basic networking knowledge and ability to interpret Wireshark/tcpdump capture output
• Experience with AWS, S3, AWS CLI, and Rsync
• English proficiency is required
• Must be willing to work US Eastern hours for the first 6 months during initial training
• Must be willing to work on some weekends when needed for deployments

Nice To Haves, But Not Required

• Knowledge of US and International market data
• Experience working with multicast-based market data distribution
