Job summary

AMD in India seeks a principal-level engineer to serve as the technical architect and senior owner of our quality and DevOps platform for GPU-accelerated ML libraries powering AI and deep learning. Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior/lead/architect capacity.
• Proven experience leading SDET or quality platforms teams with a focus on C++ development and testing at scale.
• Expert-level experience with Google Test (gtest) for unit and integration testing in C++, including framework customization.
• Architecting CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) with multi-stage, multi-target pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of software testing methodologies, frameworks, and tools across organizations.
• Experience designing ETL/data pipelines and observability platforms at scale.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and communication; able to influence without direct authority.
• Experience with Docker, Linux/Windows, and GPU compute stacks (ROCm/CUDA).

THE ROLE:

In this role, you will serve as the technical architect and senior owner ofourquality and DevOps platform for AMD's GPU-accelerated ML libraries powering AI, LLM, and deep learning applications. You will define the technical vision and drive architectural decisions for CI/CD infrastructure, automated test frameworks, ETL data systems, and observability platforms thatvalidatelibrary correctness across GPU architectures at scale. You will executeacross organizational boundaries — aligning library developers, platform teams, and program management — and be accountable for the end-to-end quality infrastructure ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of the library ecosystem.

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a principal-level engineer with deep systems thinking, a quality-first mindset, anda track recordof delivering production-grade DevOps and quality platforms at scale. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Test Architecture & Strategy:Define and own the end-to-end test architecture — designing scalable, maintainable automated test frameworks (gtest, custom harnesses) for open-source, C++-based libraries. Drive test strategy across unit, integration,end-to-end, and performance dimensions.

• CI/CD Platform Ownership:Architect and own the CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) — designing multi-stage pipelines that orchestrate builds, test execution, artifact publication, and deployment. Drive reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability of the pipeline infrastructure.

• Quality Metrics & Observability Platform:Drive the scaling out of our commonplatform for collecting,validating, and visualizing quality metrics. Define SLAs, alerting strategies, anomaly detection, and data-driven engineering health dashboards serving developers, QA, and leadership.

• ETL & Data Architecture:Design scalable ETL architectures for ingesting CI/test artifacts, enforcing schema evolution, and serving data to downstream dashboards and reporting systems. Define data quality SLAs and quarantine/recovery mechanisms.

• Cross-Functional Technical Leadership:Act as the technical bridge between librarycomponentowners, platform/infrastructure teams, and program management. Drive alignment on interfaces, contracts, quality gates, and dependency management across organizational boundaries.

• Test Planning & Coverage Strategy:Help drivetest planning efforts with developers and product teams —includingtest strategies, acceptance criteria, and coverage targets for new features. Drive systematic identification of coverage gaps and prioritize improvements based on risk analysis.

• Debugging & Root Cause Analysis:Lead complex, cross-stack debugging (kernel → library → framework → CI infrastructure), driving systematic resolution,establishingpatterns for prevention, and building team capability in root cause analysis.

• Continuous Improvement & Innovation:Evaluate and introduce new tools, techniques, and methodologies that improve testability, reduce flakiness, increase coverage, and accelerate feedback loops.Keyadoption of agentic AI for CI orchestration, test generation, and incident remediation.

• Stakeholder Communication:Provide technical input to program reviews and leadership syncs. Translate infrastructure status and quality metrics into actionable insights for program managers and executives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.Tech/M.Techin Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field

• 15+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior/lead/architect capacity

• Proven experience leading SDET or quality platform teams with a focus on C++ development and testing at scale

• Expert-level experience withGoogleTest(gtest) for unit and integration testing in C++, including framework customization and extension

• Expert-level experience architecting CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) — designing multi-stage, multi-target pipelines with reliability and maintainability

• Deep knowledge of software testing methodologies, frameworks, and tools — with the ability to define and enforce testing standards across an organization

• Experience designing and operating ETL/data pipelines and observability platforms at scale

• Experience working in Windows and Linux-based environments for development and testing

• Strong experience with Docker or other containerization for managing reproducible test environments

• Proficiencywith version control systems (Git) and development practices common in open-source communities

• Experience building/deploying web applications for dashboarding, visualization, and engineering metrics

• Demonstrated ability to architect systems that span multiple teams and organizational boundaries

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a systematic, data-driven approach to debugging and quality

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and collaborate acrossdevelopmentteams

• Experienceleveragingagentic AI to automate multi-step engineering workflows such as CI orchestration, test generation, or incident remediation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience withROCm/CUDA, HIP, or GPU compute stacks

• Familiarity with pre-silicon simulation environments (functional models, emulators)

• Experience with GPU kernel compilation workflows and binary artifact management

• Strongproficiencyin C++, including memory management, data structures, algorithms, and performance-sensitive code

• Knowledge of JIRA/Confluence integration for traceability and automation

• Experience with observability patterns (Grafana, Prometheus, alerting frameworks, SLA monitoring)

• Familiarity with HSA runtime, GPU driver stacks (KMD/UMD), or DTIF environments

• Experience with hardware-software co-design programs or new product introduction workflows

• Experience building developer tooling (CLI tools, container orchestration, internal platforms)

• Track recordof mentoring engineers and building high-performing quality engineering teams
