A Qualcomm firmware validator will design, develop, create, and modify C++ test cases to verify embedded firmware, applications, and specialized utility programs for cutting‑edge CPU products. The role collaborates closely with hardware, architecture, and post‑silicon teams to verify CPU‑based firmware and hardware on a Git repository.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of hardware engineering or related work experience.
- Master’s degree in the same fields and 3+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Architecture, Digital Design, or related field.
- Firmware & hardware validation experience.
- Experience in System Verilog and C++ based test bench environment.
- Work experience with Git, Perforce, or source code management systems.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Apply firmware and hardware knowledge to design, develop, create, and modify tests to validate embedded firmware and applications.
- Analyze user needs and firmware requirements to design and customize firmware for optimal operational efficiency.
- Develop detailed test and coverage plans based on architecture and micro‑architecture.
- Establish verification environment, including stimulus, checkers, assertions, trackers, and coverage.
- Execute verification plans, including DV environment bring‑up, regressions, feature enabling, and debug test failures.
- Track and report DV progress using metrics such as bugs and coverage.
Level Of Responsibility
- Experience in functional verification by writing test plans, portable test benches, transactors, and assembly code for CPU validation.
- Experience with verification methodologies and tools such as VCS simulators, coverage collection, debug techniques, and waveform viewers.
- Ability to develop and work independently on a block/unit of the design.
Minimum Firmware Engineering Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of firmware engineering or related experience.
- Master’s degree and 5+ years of firmware engineering experience, or PhD and 4+ years of experience.
- 3‑8 years of work experience programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl, System Verilog.
