Job summary

Citi FX Technology is seeking a senior Java developer to advance our FX trade processing platform and help modernize our software development, build, and deploy practices. You will champion best practices across global teams, contributing to automation, testing, and efficient migration to strategic platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong core Java, experience with Spring Boot and security, and OAuth.
• Experience with clean code practices and test-driven development.
• Proficient with Gradle and Maven build tools.
• Solid Linux/Unix skills and familiarity with CI platforms like Jenkins or TeamCity.
• Knowledge of Kafka and container/orchestration tools like OpenShift or Docker.
• Exposure to observability tools (Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and modern scaling/orchestration frameworks.
• Experience and hands-on exposure to GenAI is sought for the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist migration to a new strategic risk platform by integrating trade feed, reconciliation and controls.
• Contribute to adopting internal and external cloud solutions to improve automation testing and reduce manual environment management.
• Focus on established, older technology while enabling automation to facilitate migration to strategic platforms.
• Promote best practices across the FX developer community and coach junior team members.
• Resolve high-impact problems through deep evaluation of business and system processes.
• Provide deep Java expertise to ensure alignment with architecture blueprints and coding standards.
• Develop knowledge of how architecture and infrastructure integrate to achieve business goals.
• Deliver in-depth analysis to define issues and propose innovative solutions.

Citi FX Technology would like to hire a senior Java developer to work on strategic initiatives on our FX trade processing platform. The successful candidate will also support the improvement of our software development, build and deploy practices, and will champion the use of best practices across our global development teams. Responsibilities

• Support the modernisation of our FX trade processing platform.
• Support the migration to our new strategic risk platform by building and integrating trade feed, reconciliation and control components.
• Support and help to adopt internal and external cloud solutions, to:
  • Enable improved automation testing and reduce the need for manual involvement in environment management.
  • Reduce the duration of the regression testing cycle and make it easier to test multiple projects in parallel.
• The role will focus not only on new, greenfield projects, but will have a particular emphasis on established, older technology, supporting automation in order to facilitate the migration to strategic platforms.
• Champion best practice across our FX developer community and serve as a coach to more junior team members and analysts.
• Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of Java development and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.

Required Skills

• Strong core Java experience
• Springboot, Spring Security, OAuth 10+ YOE is a mandate
• Thorough knowledge of clean code practices and test-driven development
• Experience working with build tools such as Gradle and Maven
• Solid Linux/Unix skills
• Experience of using one or more build platforms (Jenkins, TeamCity)
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka an advantage
• Knowledge of Openshift is an advantage
• Knowledge of Docker is an advantage
• Observability exposure (Grafana, Opentelemetry, etc.)
• Modern scaling, orchestration frameworks such as Conductor, Temporal is a plus.
• Experience and handson exposure to GenAI is sought for the role.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
