Job summary

Citi in Chennai is seeking an Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.

The role involves collaborating with product managers, frontend developers, and other stakeholders, participating in the full SDLC, and driving code quality, performance, and security improvements. A strong background in RESTful APIs, microservices, and ORM with Hibernate/JPA is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 8+ years with Spring Boot and related Spring projects.
• Strong Java (8+), RESTful API design, and microservices experience.
• Experience with ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA) and relational DBs.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and architectural guidelines.
• Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implementations.
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to established standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architectural decisions, and the continuous improvement of development processes.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in Java and Spring Boot development.
• Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team.

Recommended Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Extensive hands-on experience (8+ years) with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related Spring projects (e.g., Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Profound understanding of Java (Java 8+ preferred) and its ecosystem.
• Strong experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and experience with ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA).
• Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
