Job description
Objective

An Instructional Designer (ID) will lead the designs, develops, and evaluates educational and training materials to ensure effective learning. They apply learning theories, instructional strategies, and technology tools to create impactful learning experiences.

Analyze Learning Needs
  • Conducts needs assessments to identify gaps in knowledge, skills, or performance.
  • Understands the target audience – their background, challenges, and learning preferences.
  • Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) to define learning objectives.
Design the Learning Experience
  • Chooses the instructional approach: e-learning, classroom training, blended learning, simulations, etc.
  • Develops course structures, lesson plans, and storyboards.
  • Aligns content with Bloom’s Taxonomy, ADDIE model, or other instructional design frameworks.
Develop Learning Materials
  • Creates and manage:
  • E-learning modules (using tools like Articulate, Captivate, Rise, etc.)
  • Instructor-led training materials (presentations, handbooks)
  • Job aids, quizzes, workbooks, videos, simulations.
  • Ensures materials are engaging, inclusive, and effective.
Implement and Deliver
  • Works with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to deliver content.
  • Supports trainers/facilitators with guides and tools.
Evaluate Learning Effectiveness
  • Measures learning outcomes (e.g., pre/post-tests, feedback forms, performance metrics).
  • Analyzes data to determine if learning goals were met.
  • Revises content based on learner feedback and performance.
