Job summary

EY is seeking an Incident Orchestrator to coordinate security incidents end-to-end, ensuring timely containment and resolution. You will act as the central link between SOC analysts, threat detection, IT responders, and incident response leadership, guiding incident handling per policy and playbooks.

The role requires deep SIEM/EDR expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment across multiple teams and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Experience with digital forensics to investigate incidents.
  • Proficient with SIEM solutions for incident response and analysis.
  • Experience with EDR/XDR platforms and security architectures.
  • Understanding of security controls and OWASP/SANS references.
  • Knowledge of attack lifecycles and IR phases.
  • Strong scripting ability for automating tasks.
  • 5+ years in Security Operations, IR or Forensics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end security incidents from escalation to closure.
  • Serve as single point of coordination between SOC teams and IR leadership.
  • Classify, prioritize and handle incidents per policy and severity models.
  • Validate alerts for true positives and business impact.
  • Drive containment by coordinating resolver groups across domains.
  • Manage incident bridges during major incidents with clear ownership.
  • Document all activities in the incident management system.
  • Deliver incident status updates to SOC leadership.
  • Support PIRs with evidence, timelines and response inputs.
  • Ensure playbooks and SOPs are followed and updated.
  • Identify gaps and recommend improvements to SOC/IR leadership.
  • Lead or participate in incident response calls.
  • Mentor lower-level responders and share knowledge.

The Incident Orchestrator is responsible for coordinating, driving, and governing the execution of security incidents identified by the SOC. The role ensures that incidents are triaged correctly, escalated appropriately, and resolved within defined SLAs, acting as the central coordination point between SOC analysts, threat detection teams, IT responders, and incident response leadership.

The role operates in accordance with the enterprise Incident Response Plan and Policy, supporting structured, repeatable, and auditable incident handling

Your key responsibilities
  • Own the end to end coordination of security incidents from initial escalation through containment, remediation, and closure.
  • Act as the single point of coordination between L1/L2 SOC analysts, threat detection teams, IT teams, and incident response stakeholders
  • Ensure incidents are classified, prioritized, and handled in line with the approved Incident Response Policy and severity model
  • Validate escalated alerts and incidents to confirm true positives and business impact before response actions are initiated
  • Drive containment and mitigation actions by coordinating with relevant resolver groups (endpoint, network, identity, cloud, etc.)
  • Manage incident bridges / war rooms during major incidents, ensuring clear ownership and timely updates.
  • Ensure all incident activities are accurately documented in the designated incident management / ticketing platform
  • Prepare and deliver incident status updates, timelines, and summaries for SOC leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support post incident reviews (PIRs) by compiling evidence, timelines, and response effectiveness inputs.
  • Ensure SOC incident handling follows defined playbooks, runbooks, and SOPs.
  • Identify process gaps, recurring issues, and response inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to SOC and IR leadership
  • Act as an escalation point for complex or ambiguous incidents that require senior operational judgment.
  • Review and improve incident response processes and playbooks.
  • Participate and/or lead incident response calls.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to assess the effectiveness of the response and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to lower-level incident responders.
To qualify for the role,
  • Experience with digital forensics tools and techniques to investigate incidents.
  • Proficient in utilizing SIEM solutions such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, LogScale, Google Chronicle, IBM QRadar, or equivalent tools for effective incident response and analysis.
  • Experienced in leveraging EDR/XDR solutions like CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne, Cortex XSIAM, Carbon Black, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of security principles, techniques, and technologies such as SANS Top 20 Critical Security Controls and OWASP Top 10
  • Understanding of attack lifecycles and incident response phases (identify, contain, eradicate, recover).
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
  • Proficiency in incident detection and response tools
  • Familiarity with malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating tasks and processes.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of security related experience in areas such Security Operations, Incident Response, and Forensic Investigation.
  • Analytical mindset & has the aptitude to learn on the fly.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 operations center (shift work required)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to analyze complex incidents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
