Qualifications

Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer, Research & Development Business Insights & Technology will be part of the product team committed to bridge the gap between technology and business needs within the Clinical Data Ecosystem (CDE) that primarily delivers technology strategy and solutions for Clinical Trial Execution, Global Biostatistics and Data Sciences, Clinical Data Management (Clinical Analytics, Site Selection, Feasibility, Real Word Evidence) business functions. The role is based out of our Hyderabad office, and is part of the Research and Development (R&D) BI&T data team that delivers data and analytics capabilities for across DD. As a Full Stack Developer with Generative AI expertise, you’ll be at the forefront of building next‑generation applications that blend robust engineering with cutting‑edge AI capabilities. You’ll design, develop, and deploy scalable systems that address business challenges, drive operational efficiency, and accelerate cycle times through effective use of technology. This role requires a balance of research‑oriented problem‑solving and engineering excellence to design, implement, and optimize intelligent systems that deliver real‑world business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into data‑driven solutions, and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications encompassing both responsive front‑end interfaces and robust backend services, ensuring seamless end‑to‑end functionality.
• Build and integrate application components to ensure reliable communication between frontend layers, backend services, REST APIs, and enterprise systems.
• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and/or Node.js, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across distributed systems.
• Work with senior developers and architects to implement user‑friendly, responsive front‑end interfaces and data visualizations using modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Assist in designing and implementing AI‑augmented features leveraging Generative AI and Large Language Models to enhance application capabilities and user experience.
• Integrate with AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Glue, API Gateway) for deploying, managing, and scaling application components.
• Work with data engineering teams to build and consume data pipelines, leveraging Databricks for data processing, analytics, and surfacing insights within applications.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to gather and integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application functionality, data processing, API integrations, and system performance across environments.
• Ensure consistency with coding standards, design guidelines, security best practices, and documentation requirements across all application layers.
• Participate in user research, testing, and feedback sessions to continuously improve usability, performance, and overall user experience.
• Assist in managing workstreams, tracking tasks, and meeting delivery timelines in an agile development environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a full stack software developer with strong hands‑on expertise across both frontend and backend technologies.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js for backend development, with proven experience building scalable, production‑grade APIs and services.
• Solid hands‑on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular, including state management, responsive design, and component‑based architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) as well as NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services including but not limited to Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Glue, and CloudWatch for building and deploying cloud‑native applications.
• Familiarity with Databricks for data processing, notebook‑based workflows, and integrating analytical outputs into application layers.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and system integration patterns.
• Exposure to Generative AI concepts, LLMs, or AI‑augmented application development is a strong plus.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and agile/scrum development methodologies.
• Experience or functional knowledge in the Life Sciences Research & Development domain is a strong plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and decision‑making abilities with a strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working effectively with cross‑functional teams, data engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in agile development environments with iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
