Role Summary

As a Senior Engineer Full Stack (.NET / React), you will design and deliver high-quality features and components for Staples Print's eCommerce platform. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will build and maintain backend services using .NET / ASP.NET Core (C#) and React / TypeScript frontends, develop and integrate AI-powered features, and contribute to system architecture discussions. You will participate in code reviews, mentor junior team members, and operate with strong ownership across the Software Development Life Cycle. This role is ideal for an engineer who writes clean, well-tested code, is comfortable with distributed systems, and wants to grow into a senior technical leadership path.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, maintainable full‑stack features using .NET / ASP.NET Core (C#) on the backend and React / TypeScript on the frontend.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and contribute to microservices integrations with Azure services and messaging platforms.
• Contribute to building AI-powered features within the platform such as personalized recommendations or intelligent search following architectural patterns defined by lead engineers.
• Integrate AI/ML APIs into application services by following established team patterns for connecting to AI services, handling responses, and managing errors.
• Assist in testing and iterating prompts for AI-powered features, gaining hands‑on familiarity with how prompt changes affect output quality.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and data teams to consume ML model outputs within application workflows.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Azure AI) to improve code quality and development velocity.
• Participate in evaluating and testing AI features including output quality, latency, cost, and responsible AI considerations.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews; contribute constructively to team technical standards.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests; champion automated test coverage across owned features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and UX designers through Agile sprint cycles.
• Mentor junior engineers through code feedback, technical guidance, and shared best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation, API specifications, and engineering runbooks.
• Stay current with .NET, React, and cloud‑native technology trends and propose improvements to team practices.

Requirements

Years of Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in an eCommerce and engineering role.

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of full‑stack development experience with .NET / ASP.NET Core (C#) and React / TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs; familiarity with microservices and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with SQL (MS SQL Server) and experience with at least one NoSQL technology.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms Azure preferred (App Services, Storage, Service Bus basics).
• Conceptual familiarity with prompt engineering understands how you phrase a request to an AI model affects its output, and a willingness to experiment and learn.
• General awareness of AI development platforms such as Azure OpenAI Service, OpenAI API, or GitHub Copilot and the types of capabilities they provide.
• Ability to reason about how AI-generated outputs plug into application flows where AI results come from, how they’re consumed, and what could go wrong.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (xUnit or NUnit) and mocking (Moq).
• Proficiency with Git, code branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and responsive design principles.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience with Docker and container‑based development.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or similar orchestration platforms.
• Experience with Elasticsearch for search and analytics use cases.
• Experience with Generative AI tools in development workflows (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT‑assisted coding).
• Experience in retail, eCommerce, or print application development.
• Familiarity with observability tools (Application Insights, Splunk, or Azure Monitor).
• Familiarity with secure coding practices.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum ceremonies and velocity tracking.
