Job summary

Gradiant is seeking a procurement and subcontract specialist to streamline sourcing, vendor qualification, and cost optimization for our engineering projects in Chennai. You will lead negotiations, manage subcontract templates, and partner with project teams to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

You should have 6-8 years in procurement/subcontracts, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems, logistics, and international supplier networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in technical engineering or materials management/subcontracts.
• 6-8 years’ experience in procurement and subcontracts administration in large projects.
• Experience with material planning systems (MRP/ERP) and order generation logic.
• Thorough understanding of procurement/subcontracts related to production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, logistics.
• Experience with international logistics and customs documentation.
• Ability to work in a high-energy startup environment and multi-task.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information within team and to customers.
• Curiosity and drive to improve status-quo in semi-autonomous settings.
• Attention to detail and ability to solve complex issues independently.

Responsibilities

• Establish and expand a vendor resource pool with preferred and standardized vendors.
• Negotiate reduced price purchasing agreements across standard product lines.
• Vet integration, fabrication, and finished goods vendor resources domestically and internationally.
• Own Bid Tabs and Leveling Sheets for procurement activities.
• Draft and maintain vendor subcontract templates and MSAs.
• Collaborate with Project Teams and Finance on inventory, policy adherence, and pricing control.
• Adhere to procurement policies and best practices.
• Manage material cost and schedule impact of engineering changes; support implementation of releases.
• Be an active Safety Committee member and promote health and safety practices.
• Ensure vendors meet current insurance requirements and monitor changes.

Identify, Negotiate and Execute all Procurement and Sub-Contracts activities with an emphasis on technical and engineering to maximize efficiency and minimize cost of organization's Procurement efforts. Manages and monitors vendor's qualification and performance to ensure they meet company's requirements. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Must have a highly analytical and technical mind as well as a strong business acumen directed toward a commitment to optimization and efficiency.

Responsibilities :

• Proactively and continuously work to establish an ever-increasing vendor resource pool with an emphasis on developing a favorable preferred and standardized vendor pool.
• Proactively and continuously work to negotiate reduced price purchasing agreements with vendors across all standard product lines.
• Proactively and continuously seek to locate and vet integration and fabrication vendor resources both domestically and internationally.
• Proactively and continuously seek to locate and vet finished OEM goods vendor resources both domestically and internationally.
• Own the management of Bid Tabs and Levelling Sheets for procurement function.
• Draft and maintain vendor subcontract agreement templates and MSA’s
• Partner closely with Project Teams and Finance department for inventory management, purchasing policy adherence, and pricing control.
• Facilitate and adhere to established Procurement policies and “Best practices”
• Manage material cost and schedule impact of proposed engineering changes in addition to taking necessary actions to ensure successful implementation and incorporation of approved engineering releases
• Be an active member of the Safety Committee and promote health andsafetyby personal example. Be familiar with the general principles and concepts of health and safetymanagement and applicable OSHA standards and company policies
• Ensure compliance of current and potential vendors with insurance requirements.
• Monitor general insurance requirements and modify as needed.
• Support Project Management with planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, spending and savings forecasts.
• Minimize risk and identify contingencies regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guidelines and strategy.

Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Engineering discipline or Materials Management and Subcontracts, or demonstrated commensurate experience.
• 6-8 years’ experience in Procurement and Subcontracts Administration in a large Project organization
• Experience with material planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic
• Thorough understanding of Procurement and Subcontracts concepts surrounding production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations
• Wastewater, Chemical Processing and/or Oil/Gas systems experience preferred
• Experience with International land, air and ocean transit logistics as well as Customs documentation management.
• Ability to work in a high energy, start-up based environment and multi-tasking.
• Strong communication skills to convey ideas and technical information effectively within team and to customers.
• Curiosity and strong drive to improve status-quo while working in a semi-autonomous environment.
• Pays attention to detail, identifies & solves complex issues, shares suggestions to improve quality & productivity, works independently with minimal supervision.
