Overview
The Sr. Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive management, operation, and maintenance of all building facilities and MEP systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with quality standards. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, project coordination, and operational oversight to support the Design Districts luxury standards and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & MEP Management:
- Oversee engineering and maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen, and building fabric systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all engineering and MEP systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Monitor and verify contractor performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, QA/QC standards, and project requirements.
- Inspect and approve incoming MEP materials, ensuring compliance with approved submittals and specifications.
- Monitor deployment, utilization, and maintenance of plant and machinery for MEP works, ensuring safety compliance and minimal downtime.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Conduct quality audits, inspections, and reviews of contractor work to maintain high standards and address non-compliances.
- Maintain complete QA/QC documentation, inspection records, and material approval logs.
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international safety codes and fire safety standards.
- Coordinate with sustainability consultants for IGBC certification documentation and compliance.
Tender & Billing Management:
- Participate in the review and evaluation of tenders, ensuring both technical and commercial compliance.
- Coordinate with procurement and design teams to finalize tenders within budget and scope.
- Verify and certify contractor bills in coordination with QS and site engineers, ensuring accuracy of certified quantities and timely submission.
Design & Site Coordination:
- Coordinate between client, consultants, and contractors for MEP design reviews and approvals.
- Review shop drawings and resolve design-related issues efficiently.
- Oversee daily MEP site activities, ensuring seamless coordination with civil works.
- Track, report, and communicate site progress against the planned schedule to all stakeholders.
Energy Management & Sustainability:
- Implement energy management programs to reduce consumption and promote sustainable practices.
- Monitor and analyze energy usage and identify opportunities for cost and energy savings.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management:
- Lead, motivate, and develop engineering team members, ensuring skill enhancement and operational excellence.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee external service providers to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
- Develop effective work schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
Budgeting & Financial Control:
- Manage budgets, monitoring expenses to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5–6 years of progressive experience in engineering, MEP, and maintenance within luxury hotels, high-end real estate, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, building services, and sustainability requirements.
- Proven track record in quality control, billing, tender management, and project coordination.
- Proficiency in facility management software and relevant computer applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
