About the Team and the Role:

Ather's Structural & Vehicle Attributes Testing team defines performance across durability, dynamics, comfort, features, and ergonomics.

We aim to deliver a complete product experience through human-centric design and ergonomic excellence on unconventional platforms.

As an Ergonomics Attribute Engineer, you will champion rider and pillion ergonomic comfort. You will combine theoretical ergonomics, objective data, and subjective feedback while working with design, testing, and posture analysis teams to set targets for occupant ergonomics comfort.

Responsibilities:
  • Design ergonomic layouts and set targets for touchpoints like seating, handlebars, and controls, balancing performance with cost, packaging and other constraints.
  • Resolve complex ergonomics and human factors challenges across new and existing vehicle platforms.
  • Translate product requirements into detailed ergonomic specifications and cascade targets across design teams.
  • Align ergonomic Design Verification Plans with DFMEA protocols alongside Digital Human Modeling and Testing teams.
  • Improve ergonomic evaluation methods to increase design prediction accuracy.
  • Lead ergonomics testing plans, including reachability and rider posture audits, ensuring smooth cross-departmental execution.
  • Combine subjective user feedback with Digital Human Model data to refine the rider-pillion layout and controls.
  • Ensure adherence to timeline, budget, and quality standards through an ergonomic lens.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design, Product, and Testing teams to deliver hardware meeting ergonomic standards.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Capture lessons learned and maintain technical documentation to build a robust knowledge base.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in mechanical or electro-mechanical branches of engineering or any other equivalent field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in a similar domain with an automotive organization.
Must Have Competencies:
  • Proven track record in engineering vehicle human factors and defining rider-pillion triangle architectures based on occupant comfort.
  • Deep technical proficiency in automobile occupant ergonomics - encompassing anthropometry, posture, and reachability - with the ability to solve complex engineering hurdles.
  • Hands-on experience conducting ergonomics testing, orchestrating user trials, and utilizing Digital Human Modeling (DHM) for objective performance assessments.
  • Practical knowledge of data manipulation, reporting, and equipment inventory management.
Good to Have Competencies:
  • Comprehensive understanding of DFMEA protocols as applied to end-to-end product development.
  • Working knowledge of Design for X (DFA, DFM, DFS, DFR) methodologies to ensure manufacturing and service excellence.
  • Proficiency in specialized ergonomic simulation software such as RAMSIS, Jack, or CATIA Human Builder is highly desirable.
