Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Data Platform team to lead a group delivering reliable data services, governance, and privacy capabilities at scale. You will guide design reviews, set quarterly roadmaps with partners, and mentor engineers to progress their careers.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, strong execution, and collaboration across product, design, and senior leadership to deliver high-quality distributed systems for a remote-first company.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data platform or infrastructure, including 2+ years in engineering management.
• Experience building, delivering, and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Strong engineering judgment and the ability to foster quality, maintainability, and effective development practices.
• An execution-focused approach: able to work through ambiguity, balance near-term delivery with long-term planning, and turn complex goals into actionable work.
• A hands‑on leadership style and willingness to engage in technical work and operational responsibilities.
• Experience leading technical change in a large, fast-moving organization.
• Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
• Clear communication, ownership, and a strong customer focus.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and senior leaders to set a clear quarterly roadmap and deliver it iteratively.
• Guide technical decisions and promote high-quality code, sound engineering practices, and reliable distributed systems.
• Stay close to the work through design and code reviews, incident leadership, on-call participation, and troubleshooting when needed.
• Own processes that improve engineering quality and help the team meet its service-level commitments.

The Data Platform team builds the foundations for storing, moving, managing, and using data at scale—including storage, streaming, data lakes, analytics, and experimentation. As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team developing reliable data services and the privacy and governance capabilities that help teams use data responsibly.

What you’ll do

Pay Transparency Notice

The target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): ₹9,424,000-₹9,424,500 INR
