Job summary

Redwood Software is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Product engineering team and drive the design, development, and enhancement of a scalable, secure software platform.

You will mentor engineers, shape technical strategy for Java/Spring Boot microservices, and guide AI/ML initiatives to enhance the MFT and WLA capabilities across a global customer base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 4 years of people management.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, and REST API skills with solid OOP and design patterns.
• Cloud expertise (AWS) with large-scale distributed SaaS systems experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, microservices, and secure, observable architectures.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and applying them to engineering problems.
• DevOps practices including CI/CD and IaC (Terraform).
• SRE/observability mindset and experience with SAP integration is a plus.

YOUR IMPACT

We are looking for an Senior Engineering Manager, Products & Platforms to join our Product engineering team to lead a high-performing software engineering team while driving technical strategy across Redwood's Workload Automation Platform. You will be instrumental in mentoring engineers, managing team deliverables, and guiding the design, development, and enhancement of scalable, secure software that powers enterprise data exchange for more than 1,000 customers worldwide.

• As an Engineering Manager, you will:
• People Leadership & Mentorship: Manage, coach, and grow a team of talented software engineers, supporting career development, conducting performance reviews, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
• Technical Strategy & Architecture: Provide hands-on technical guidance, participate in design reviews, and define technical roadmaps for Java/Spring Boot microservices while ensuring high standards for architecture, security, and observability.
• Delivery & Platform Ownership: Oversee team execution, Sprint planning, and delivery timelines to ensure resilient, scalable core platform features and infrastructure.
• AI Integration: Research and apply AI/ML concepts and their usage to innovate and enhance the MFT (Managed File Transfer) and WLA (Workload Automation) product capabilities (e.g., intelligent routing, predictive maintenance, enhanced security).

Your Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 4 years of direct people management experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, and REST API skills with a solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and architecture principles.
• Cloud Platform Expertise (AWS Preferred): Extensive experience architecting, deploying, and managing complex solutions on a major cloud platform, with a deep understanding of cloud concepts including networking, security, and cost optimization.
• Expertise in building distributed SaaS systems, micro services, APIs, Kubernetes, cloud platforms.
• AI Awareness: Proven familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their usage, with practical experience or a strong conceptual understanding of how to apply these techniques to solve engineering problems.
• DevOps Expertise: Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform, and automated platform management.
• EKS/Kubernetes: Mastery of container orchestration, specifically with EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service), including managing inter-component communication and cluster operations.
• Protocol Understanding: In-depth understanding of enterprise file transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, FTPS, AS2) and secure communication protocols.
• Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams, hiring top talent, and driving team productivity.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise application integration, preferably with SAP.
