Job summary

Arcadis Bengaluru seeks a senior structural leader to direct complex design projects for highways, rail and allied civil works. You will mentor global design teams, review deliverables for quality and safety, and guide projects from concept to construction support.

With 10–12 years in major infrastructure design, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, apply international codes, and drive BIM and digital engineering adoption across projects.

Qualifications

• Post-Graduation in Civil/Structure Engineering.
• Active progression towards professional licensure (e.g., P.Eng).
• 10–12 years of experience in the design and delivery of highway and rail bridges, stations, and associated civil and utility structures.
• Extensive experience leading design teams and managing multidiscipline infrastructure projects on Design & Build projects in USA.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex structural design projects for highways, rail corridors, and related civil/utility works.
• Provide technical leadership and review work to ensure quality, constructability and safety.
• Manage all stages of the design process from concept through detailed engineering to construction support and close-out.
• Take primary responsibility for project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and delivery against programme timelines, budgets and safety objectives.
• Carry out design and production of structural design, CAD/BIM output and 3D modelling with alternative technical schemes.
• Serve as main client contact with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective communication.
• Oversee resolution of complex technical issues and drive value engineering where appropriate.
• Ensure robust QA/QC procedures across all deliverables and contribute to team capability development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-Graduation in Civil/Structure Engineering
• Actively progressing towards professional licensure, such as P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) in the United States
• 10–12 years of relevant experience in the design and delivery of highway and rail bridges, stations, and associated civil and utility structures.
• Extensive experience leading design teams and managing multidiscipline infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Minimum 3 years of working experience on Design & Build Projects in USA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the delivery of complex structural design projects for highways, railways, and associated civil or utility works, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to design teams, reviewing and approving work to ensure quality, constructability, and safety.
• Manage all stages of the design process, from concept development and optioneering through detailed engineering to construction support and project close-out.
• Take primary responsibility for project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and delivery against programme timelines, budgets, and health & safety objectives.
• Carry out design and production of Structural design, CAD/BIM production and 3D modelling and quantity estimation in D&B projects with development of alternative technical schemes and detailed design of projects.
• Ability to understand and carry out existing condition survey and prepare reports.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams, fostering strong professional relationships and ensuring effective communication.
• Oversee the resolution of complex technical and interdisciplinary design issues, driving innovation and value engineering where appropriate.
• Ensure robust quality assurance and control procedures are implemented across all deliverables. Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives and actively contribute to the development of team capabilities and best practices.

Required Specific Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Advanced knowledge of US (AASHTO/ACI) design standards LRFD, DMRB, British and Euro codes along with other international standards and various DOT standards, as well as delivery processes in the ANA (Atlantic North America) region.
• Proven track record in the design and delivery of major prestressed and steel composite bridges, including complex and non-standard structures.
• Expertise in conceptualizing, designing, and coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects using advanced digital engineering tools and methodologies.
• Highly skilled in structural analysis and design using software such as MIDAS Civil, STAAD Pro, SAM LEAP, AutoCad, Leap
• Concrete, Leap Steel, RM Bridge, MathCad, Microstation – FDOT and GDOT design standard tools, HEC- RAS, Hydrology Tools and Proconcrete.
• Comprehensive experience in BIM processes, common data environment management, and integration of digital design and drafting tools (e.g., Revit, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
• Strong project management skills, including resource planning, risk management, and financial oversight.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with emerging trends and technologies in structural engineering.
