Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is hiring a Senior Engineer for RPA and Intelligent Automation to own end-to-end automation solutions across multiple technologies (RPA, API, agentic CUAs). The role requires deep Python expertise, hands-on RPA delivery, and leadership in proofs of concept, design standards, and scalable frameworks.

You will work with Azure OpenAI, Docker, Playwright, and Azure services to build reliable, secure automation at scale, mentoring engineers and guiding production readiness

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years building and running production automation or software, with Python at the center of your work and a track record of owning solutions end to end.
• Hands-on RPA delivery in Python; Power Automate experience valued; other RPA tools welcome but Python mandatory.
• Web, Citrix, and OCR automation using Playwright/Selenium, vision techniques, OCR, and resilient self-healing patterns.
• POC and technology evaluation: scoping and running proofs of concept, de-risking new tech, and building recommendations.
• Reusable frameworks: building shared automation frameworks and components standardized across a team.
• Async and message-driven design: Azure Service Bus, queues, dead-letter, retries, and idempotency.
• Advanced SQL: SQL Server / T-SQL, design, queries, tuning, migrations.
• Azure core: Container Apps/ACA Jobs, Function Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault, Application Insights.
• Docker: containerizing automations for reliability.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Ensemble Health Partners is one of the fastest-growing revenue cycle management companies in healthcare. Our Automation & AI Platform team is building the next generation of intelligent automation: moving beyond traditional rule-based bots into agentic, AI-driven automation and Computer Use Agents (CUA) that can see, reason about, and operate real applications the way a person does.We are looking for a Senior Engineer to own automation solutions end to end and set the technical direction others build on. You will run discovery on complex processes, architect the solution across RPA, API, and agentic / CUA approaches, lead the proofs of concept that de-risk new technology, and ship it to production at scale. This is a hands-on, high-ownership individual-contributor role with real technical leadership: Python is at the center of everything you build.You will be the person the team looks to when an automation is genuinely hard: a brittle Citrix app, an unstructured document backlog, an unattended run that must never silently fail. You set the patterns, raise the quality bar, and mentor Engineer I and II developers along the way. Our stack spans Python, Playwright, Azure, Docker, and a fast-growing agentic / CUA layer built on Azure OpenAI and open-source LLMs.

What You Will Do

• Own end-to-end architecture of automation solutions, from process discovery and feasibility through design, build, and production handover, choosing the right approach across RPA, API integration, and agentic / CUA techniques.
• Lead proofs of concept for new automation approaches (vision-based Citrix, Computer Use Agents, document AI), de-risking new technology and producing clear recommendations and objective documents for leadership.
• Design and build the reusable Python automation framework and shared components (resilient locators, self-healing, replay and orchestration patterns) that the wider team builds on.
• Set technical standards and review designs and code, mentor Engineer I and II developers, and raise the bar on quality, testing, and reliability.
• Architect for scale and reliability: orchestration, idempotency, retries, dead-lettering, and SLAs across a portfolio of production automations.
• Build agentic and Computer Use Agent (CUA) automations, selecting and integrating models (Azure OpenAI and open-source LLMs) and designing document-processing pipelines that blend OCR with LLMs.
• Design secure, unattended execution: integrate REST and SOAP APIs, and handle secret management, MFA such as TOTP, least-privilege access, and HIPAA-aware handling of sensitive data.
• Package and deploy with Docker and Azure (Container Apps / ACA Jobs, Function Apps), ship through Azure DevOps CI/CD, and provision infrastructure as code where it helps.
• Own observability and production support: structured logging, traces, metrics, dashboards, alerting, incident response, and cost tracking.
• Partner with operations, security, and client teams, and present architecture and trade-offs to engineering leadership, including VP-level.

What Were Looking ForMinimum 7 years building and running production automation or software, with Python at the center of your work and a track record of owning solutions end to end.Must-Have Skills

• Python (expert): deep, idiomatic Python with clean architecture, packaging, performance awareness, and strong testing habits. This is the non-negotiable core of the role.
• End-to-end automation architecture: designing complete solutions from discovery to production, and choosing deliberately between RPA, API-driven, and agentic approaches.
• Hands-on RPA delivery at depth: years of production automations built in Python. Prior Power Automate / Power Automate Desktop experience is valued, and experience with any other RPA tool (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism) is welcome, but Python is mandatory.
• Web, Citrix, and OCR automation: Playwright or Selenium for web, image / vision techniques for Citrix and virtual desktops, OCR for documents, and resilient self-healing patterns.
• POC and technology evaluation: scoping and running proofs of concept, de-risking new tech, and making clear build-versus-buy recommendations.
• Reusable frameworks: building shared automation frameworks and components that a team standardizes on, not just individual bots.
• Async and message-driven design: Azure Service Bus (queues, dead-letter, consumers), producer / consumer patterns, idempotency, and retries.

• Open-source LLM experience: self-hosting or serving models (for example vLLM on a GPU VM) and integrating them into automation.
• Document processing at scale: OCR and LLM extraction pipelines over PDFs and scanned documents.
• Model Context Protocol (MCP): building tool / adapter servers, or comparable abstractions.
• Healthcare / regulated-data domain: familiarity with HIPAA constraints or Epic / FHIR integration.
