Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Senior Engineer, QE to own test strategy and coverage for the team’s features. You will design plans, build automation frameworks, and partner with developers, product managers, and platform teams to ship with confidence and velocity.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted testing, non-deterministic outputs in AI/ML products, and expertise in frontend and backend quality practices within a SaaS/market intelligence domain.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering roles.
• Deep proficiency in testing TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems (React, Webpack, or similar).
• Expert‑level experience with Playwright or comparable browser automation frameworks for end‑to‑end testing.
• Strong experience with unit and component testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, or React Testing Library.
• Proven track record of designing and building test automation frameworks from scratch or significantly evolving existing ones at scale.

About the Role:

As a Senior Engineer, QE, you own test strategy and coverage for your team's features and act as a strategic quality partner to the engineers who build them. You design test plans, build and evolve automation frameworks, and embed quality-by-design.You partner closely with developers, product managers, and platform teams to define test requirements, guide teams toward sustainable quality practices, and help us ship with confidence at velocity.

You will:

Define and execute test strategies across UI, API, and service layers to ensure comprehensive coverage.Develop and maintain reliable automation frameworks and performance testing suites.Utilize AI-assisted tools and agentic workflows to accelerate testing and debugging cycles.Lead risk assessments, release validations, and root‑cause analyses for critical issues.Implement shift‑left practices and enforce quality gates within development teams.

Desired Skills:

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in software quality engineering roles
• Deep proficiency in testing TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems (React, Webpack, or similar).
• Expert‑level experience with Playwright or comparable browser automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium WebDriver) for end‑to‑end testing.
• Strong experience with unit and component testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, or React Testing Library.
• Proven track record of designing and building test automation frameworks from scratch or significantly evolving existing ones at scale.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, Gitlab or similar) and how to integrate and optimize test suites within them.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude for accelerating test authoring, code review, and debugging.
• Hands‑on experience with Allure or similar test reporting/analytics platforms.
• Understanding of AI/ML‑powered products and the unique testing challenges they present (non‑deterministic outputs, data quality, model evaluation).
• Experience in SaaS, fintech, or market intelligence domains.
• Familiarity with performance and load testing tools (k6, Lighthouse, Artillery).
• Familiarity with visual regression testing (Percy, Chromatic, Playwright visual comparisons).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
