Job summary

GE Vernova Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability team seeks an experienced electrical power systems engineer to contribute to power electronics and grid studies, modeling and simulation of renewables and HVDC projects using PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, PSLF and related tools.

The role involves transient and steady-state analyses, supporting international projects, and producing detailed reports and presentations that translate complex analyses into practical customer value.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering.
  • PhD preferred for advanced roles.
  • Experience with transient and dynamic analyses using large databases or simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform transient analysis and power electronics control studies for renewable generation, energy storage, HVDC, and FACTS.
  • Support grid integration engineering for international clients with modeling, analysis, and equipment specification.
  • Create and parametrize simulation models for electrical equipment and their controls in industry-standard software.
  • Prepare detailed written reports and presentations describing analyses and customer value propositions.
  • Engage in ongoing technical knowledge expansion and present content at regional forums.

Job Description Summary

Consulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our Power Systems Engineering team utilizes their deep knowledge of connected power grid planning, design, operation, and life-cycle management, to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Our Power Economics team offers analyses focused on the understanding and the study of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications. Over 700 entities worldwide use our Concorda Suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course.

As a member of the GE Vernova Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability team, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services and also contribute to solve the complex technical issues faced by power industry working with external customers.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives, HVDC and FACTS.
  • Supportcustomerswithpowersystemsengineeringexpertise;includingmodeling,analysis,equipmentdesignandspecification,andfailuremodeanalysis
  • Create,modifyandparametrizesimulationmodelsrepresentingelectricalequipmentlikegas turbines,windturbines,solarinverters,batterystorage and their controls in widely used power system simulation software like PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSLF etc.
  • Performpowersystemplanning studies, renewable integration studies, feasibility studies for HVDC and FACTS, Energy Storage etc. for large utility systems
  • Perform Grid Code Compliance studies and field testing for connection of generation equipment (Conventional or renewable) to Grid
  • Effectivelycommunicateresultstobothinternalandexternalcustomersbypreparingdetailedwrittenreportsorpresentationsdescribinganalysesperformed,solutionsdeveloped,andcustomervaluepropositions
  • Enhanceindustryknowledgeandpresenttechnicalcontentinregionalforumsandconferences;serveasathoughtleaderinindustryactivities
  • Activelyparticipatein aworkingenvironmentwhereteamwork,quality,customerserviceandinnovationareprized
Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Grid code compliance requirements for interconnection of generation equipment to the Grid sysrem
  • Willingnesstotraveltosupportprojectwork(up to 20%)
