Job summary

Bitwarden, a leading open source password management company, invites a Front-End Engineer to join our India Engineering Center of Excellence. You will craft onboarding, activation, and subscription experiences that bring new users to value and conversion.

You will work with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS, integrate Stripe/PayPal, and ship reusable components in Storybook, collaborating with product, design, and billing teams.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of front-end software engineering experience.
• SaaS/payments/checkout or money-handling UI experience preferred.
• Modern Angular; front-end testing; Storybook/design systems and accessibility experience; typed back-end API contracts.

Responsibilities

• Build guided setup and onboarding flows to reach value quickly and convert to subscription.
• Maintain user-facing subscription, plan-selection, payment-method, and invoice experiences across web, browser, and desktop.
• Integrate Stripe Elements/SetupIntents and PayPal via Braintree; ensure PCI-compliant data handling.
• Develop reusable, Storybook-documented Angular components and services within typed contracts.
• Work with TypeScript, RxJS, Angular Signals, reactive forms/validation, routing, and pricing/discount logic.
• Improve performance, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability of the Angular codebase and adoption of Angular Signals.
• Collaborate with product, design, security, and Billing teams; participate in PR reviews and address tech debt.

Onboarding & Activation owns the user's journey from first run to paying customer: the onboarding and activation experience that proves the product's value, and the client-side surfaces that convert it. This spans guided setup, trial initiation, upgrade paywalls and plan selection, and the user-facing subscription, plan, payment-method, and invoice experiences. As a Front-End Engineer on this team, you'll build the flows a user actually sees and interacts with, from their first moments in the product through the decision to become a paying customer. These are high-stakes, customer-facing flows where UX correctness directly affects both the first impression a new user forms and the revenue and trust on the commerce side. You'll partner closely with the Billing team, who own the underlying pricing service and Stripe/PayPal integration platform, so that client-side payment and plan surfaces stay consistent with the back-end contract they maintain. You'll work on a globally distributed, asynchronous team that relies on written clarity and a bias to action.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Build and maintain guided setup and onboarding flows that help a new user reach value quickly, and the trial-initiation and upgrade-paywall surfaces that convert that value into a subscription.
• Build and maintain the user-facing subscription, plan-selection, payment-method, and invoice experiences across web, browser, and desktop.
• Integrate browser payment tokenization (Stripe Elements/SetupIntents for card and US bank account, and PayPal via the Braintree drop-in) so raw payment data never touches Bitwarden servers.
• Build clean, reusable, Storybook-documented Angular components and services, working within the shared pricing and subscription component libraries, and consume the typed client-side contract with the server billing API.
• Work with TypeScript, RxJS observable data services, Angular Signals, reactive forms/validation, routing, and pricing/discount display logic.
• Contribute to application performance, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability, including the team's ongoing Angular Signals adoption and strict-typing modernization.
• Partner with product, design, security, and the Billing team's engineers.
• Participate in pull request review and help identify technical debt and opportunities for pragmatic refactoring.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience Level: 6-10 years in front-end software engineering, with the ability to own complex flows end to end with minimal guidance.
• Technical Stack: Strong experience in a modern reactive component framework. Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS are strongly preferred; strong experience in React, Vue, or a similar framework.
• Correctness-Critical UI: Ownership of correctness-critical, form- and validation-heavy transactional UI: handling edge cases and error states in flows where a mistake affects a user's trust or a transaction.
• Domain and Integration Experience: SaaS/payments/checkout or other money-handling UI experience; client-side payment-gateway integration (Stripe.js/Elements, PayPal via Braintree).
• Engineering Practices and Tooling: Modern Angular; front-end testing; Storybook/design systems and accessibility experience; comfort consuming a typed back-end API contract.
