Job summary

Lever, Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer, Costing based in India to drive development costing across products, brands, and manufacturing markets. Qualifications

  • Industrial garment manufacturing, buying office, or trading experience (≥4 years).
  • Strong BOMs, garment construction, and product costing knowledge.
  • Experience with development costing, sourcing strategies, and allocation methods.
  • Fabric weaving, fabric construction, and dyeing knowledge is a plus.
  • Embellishment techniques (printing, embroidery, quilting) advantageous.
  • Negotiation, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving using data.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with change management, process redesign, or continuous improvement.
  • Global/matrix environment leadership experience.
  • MS Office proficiency, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Provide leadership across the product supply organization and cross-functional partnerships.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Support modernization and standardization of costing methodologies with data-driven approaches.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineer, Costing based in India.

The Senior Engineer, Costing will play a key role in driving development costing operations across multiple products, brands, and manufacturing markets. You will partner closely with sourcing, product development, brand, material, planning, and vendor teams to establish efficient and scalable costing practices. The role combines product and manufacturing expertise with data-driven analysis, negotiation, and process optimization. You will help teams make informed sourcing and product decisions while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs. A major focus will be on modernizing costing approaches through automation, standardization, and fact-based methodologies. This is a highly collaborative opportunity in a global, fast-paced environment where your work can influence significant product costs and sourcing strategies.


Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage seasonal development costing milestones, activities, and deliverables across relevant teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Champion connectivity and effective information sharing between sourcing, brand, material, planning, vendors, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead vendor negotiations using fact-based costing methodologies, product engineering insights, and profitability analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Partner with development sourcing teams on vendor allocation decisions by providing FOB and landed-cost perspectives that support sourcing strategies.
  • Promote adherence to established costing processes and governance standards across costing operations teams and vendor partners.
  • Track, analyze, and report key costing metrics to support transparency, efficiency, and organizational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by eliminating redundant activities, automating repetitive tasks, and optimizing costing processes for greater productivity and value.
  • Provide leadership and collaboration across the product supply organization, promoting strong performance standards and effective partnerships.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects, business analyses, and transformation initiatives in a diverse and fast-moving environment.
  • Support the modernization and standardization of costing methodologies through scalable, data-driven, and efficient approaches.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial garment manufacturing, a buying office, or a trading company.
  • Strong understanding of technical specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), garment construction, and product costing concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or interest in development costing processes, sourcing strategies, and allocation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of fabric weaving, fabric construction, and different dyeing processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with embellishment techniques such as printing, embroidery, and quilting is advantageous.
  • Experience with sweater knits and accessories is an additional advantage.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to support business decisions.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and bring teams together to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience with change adoption, business process redesign, reengineering, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities within a global or matrixed environment, combined with strategic and innovative thinking.
  • Strong digital and analytical mindset with an interest in efficiency, automation, new technologies, and process innovation.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including diplomacy, active listening, openness, clarity, and concise communication.
  • High level of accountability, ownership, initiative, and willingness to proactively connect teams and solve problems.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
