Major Responsibilities
- Preparation of Design Criteria for Controls and Instrumentation.
- Development and Review of P&IDs
- Preparation of Instrument Index, Data Sheet, Wiring and Loop Diagrams in SPI.
- Preparation of datasheets of various commodities like Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature or any other Miscellaneous items, Control valves , ON/Off valves, Steam turbine Bypass valves and Motor Operated Valves
- Performs control valve, flow element and thermowell sizing calculations.
- Preparation of Technical Specification, Technical interrogatives, Technical Bid, Analysis (TBA) of the various Supplier's offers for various instruments like: Transmitters, Temperature Elements, Mass flow meters, etc.
- Preparation of Material Requisition and vendor print review of control system commodities (like Flow, level, pressure, temperature etc.)
- Preparation of Instrumentation Specification for Mechanical Packages
- Design and procurement of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems(CEMS) and Steam and Water Analysis Systems (SWAS)
- Review of vendor prints for various vendor packages (HRSG, ST, GT, Main steam, BFWcondensate pumps)
- Preparation of Level Sketches and Cable Block Diagrams.
- Preparation of Bill of material for commodities like fittings, tubing, Instrument enclosures (freeze protection)
- Assists in developing or reviews discipline material quantity estimates.
- Preparation of Instrument Installation Details, Bulk Material Take off and assist designers in Modelling of instruments, junction boxes and allocation of Remote I/ Os and Cross wiring between DCS.
- Developing and reviewing IO database for HRSG and BOP systems including interfaces with Combustion turbine and Steam turbine
- Designing steam systems (main steam (HP), cold reheat, hot reheat, LP steam and auxiliary steam), feedwater, condensate, condenser circulating water and closed cooling water system
- Designing of severe service control valves, pressure regulating and de-superheating station control valves and desuperheaters
- Preparation of Complex Loop Control Narratives, Cause and Effect Matrix for Process and F&G System, logic narratives.
- Working knowledge on design, digital solutions and automation of Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Fuel Cells and Hydrogen, and Aeroderivative Gas Turbines is preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control from a recognized university.
- Level 1 - 12 16 years of industry experience.
- Level 2 - 16+ years of industry experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Basic technical knowledge of Control System engineering in Power Industry.
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
- Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards like ISA, ASME PTC, ISO, ASME, ANSI etc. as applicable to power industry
- Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
- Understands the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating.
- Job knowledge of various types of field Instrumentation, DCS, PLC, Hazardous areas is essential.
- Design experience or Basic knowledge of DCS PLC and SCADA Networks, Fiber optic and CAT 6 is essential.
- DCS FAT participation and knowledge of DCS systems
- Preparation of DCS logics and SAMA diagrams of various systems (HRSG, Steam and Gas turbine , Main steam, feedwater, condensate, Protection logics, Instrument Air/Primary Air, wastewater, Circulating water, Raw water, Potable water, Electrical systems, Diesel generator, Air removal etc.)
- Fire Alarm system design
- Basic awareness industry standards Application Programs such as SPI, S3D, Flowell, Instroke, Conval .
- Basic awareness of industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
- Basic skills in oral and written communication.
