HR Innovation Group invites applications for a Senior Engineer - BDT Costing (NPD) in Pune. The role centers on leading cost activities for new product development, ensuring accurate, competitive product costing in collaboration with Design, R&D, Purchase, Manufacturing and Quality teams.

The candidate should have 5–8 years of experience in NPD/Product Costing and be proficient with BOM, drawings, and cost modeling, including CO2 welded and stamping fabrication.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in NPD costing, product costing or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience in fabrication of CO2 welded and stamping parts.
• Strong knowledge of BOM, drawings and costing.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end costing from concept/quotation to SOP.
• Prepare Should-Cost / Target-Cost estimates from drawings, BOM and processes.
• Develop and maintain product cost models (RM Cost, BOP, Labour, Overheads, etc.).
• Review drawings/BOM to identify cost drivers and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Benchmark new product costs with existing products and market prices.
• Work on Design-to-Cost (DTC) and Value Engineering.
• Provide timely costing for new product quotations and business cases.
• Analyze impact of ECN and supplier changes on cost.
• Support Make-or-Buy, localization and supplier selection decisions.

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading and managing costing activities for Product Development (NPD). To ensure accurate, competitive, and commercially viable product costing in collaboration with Design, R&D, Purchase, Manufacturing & Quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

*1. NPD Costing - Major Role*

• - Lead end-to-end costing from concept/quotation stage to SOP.
• - Prepare detailed Should-Cost / Target-Cost estimates based on drawings, BOM & process.
• - Develop and maintain product cost models (RM Cost, BOP, Conversion Cost, Labour, Overheads, Tooling, Packaging & Logistics).
• - Review drawings/BOM to identify cost drivers & cost-reduction opportunities.
• - Benchmark new product costs with existing products & market prices.
• - Work on Design-to-Cost (DTC) & Value Engineering.
• - Provide timely costing for new product quotations & business cases.
• - Analyze impact of ECN, material/process/supplier changes on cost.
• - Support Make-or-Buy, localization & supplier selection decisions.

*2. Cost Reduction & Optimization*

• - Drive cost reduction during development via material substitution, process optimization & localization.
• - Develop standardized costing templates & maintain historical cost database.

KPIs

NPD Costing Accuracy, Target Cost Achievement at SOP, Cost Reduction Savings, Timeliness of Costing, Estimated vs Actual Variance.

Required Qualification
