What you'll build

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer in the areas of Industry AI – Energy and Natural Resources under Strategy & Operations board area. The role focuses on identifying opportunities to improve engineering and operational processes through AI-assisted automation, Agentic AI, cloud technologies, and DevOps practices. You will work across the complete lifecycle — from understanding a problem and exploring an AI/automation opportunity, through prototyping and engineering, to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The role requires a combination of strong engineering fundamentals, hands‑on AI adoption, automation mindset, cloud understanding, and the ability to learn and apply emerging technologies.

• You will design and implement automation solutions that integrate with enterprise application APIs, tools, and cloud services, and you will develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for both applications and automation workloads.
• Core to this role is working with cloud platforms and cloud‑native technologies to deploy and operate solutions, implementing infrastructure and deployment automation, and embedding observability, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• You will continuously improve the reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability of deployed solutions, while collaborating with architects, developers, platform teams, and other stakeholders to identify and act on automation opportunities.
• Evaluating emerging technologies across AI, automation, cloud, and DevOps—and translating them into practical adoption is an ongoing expectation.
• You will also contribute reusable automation patterns, engineering practices, and accelerators that strengthen the capability of the wider team.
• You will identify opportunities where AI and automation can simplify engineering and operational processes. This includes applying agentic AI and AI‑assisted technologies to real‑world use cases, and developing prototypes and proofs of concept to validate new ideas.
• Effective context engineering, AI output evaluation, and the establishment of appropriate quality assurance and validation mechanisms will be central to delivering reliable and relevant AI‑assisted solutions.
• In addition, you will actively support the adoption of AI‑enabled tools and practices across engineering teams.

What You Bring

• 7-12 years of full time practical hands‑on experience and knowledge of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure and configuration automation and observability including logging, monitoring and metrics enables you to design and operate resilient repeatable delivery systems.
• You should possess strong programming and scripting skills across one or more modern languages, combined with experience developing automation, APIs, integrations and reusable components, enable you to build solutions that scale from prototype to production. A solid grounding in software engineering principles including version control, testing and maintainability is expected.
• Your experience includes an understanding of agentic AI, context design for AI applications and the quality and validation of AI output. This entails evaluating and translating emerging AI technologies into practical use cases. An understanding of cloud security, identity and access management and secure application deployment is a further advantage.
• Beyond technical depth you bring the learning agility to stay ahead of fast‑moving technology the creative thinking to identify new applications of AI and automation the collaborative ability to work effectively across engineering, architecture, platform and business teams and the communication skills to make complex technical concepts and AI capabilities accessible to any audience.

You’ll take end-to-end ownership of systems that directly affect cloud delivery, quality and reliability at SAP. In this role, you will join Industry AI - EnR engineering team (incl. Utilities, Oil & Gas, Mill & Mining and Chemicals) and help drive the adoption of AI, automation, cloud, and modern DevOps practices across our engineering landscape. The team is global and cross‑functional, and you’ll work with people across product management, engineering, and platform teams. You will be mentoring less‑experienced engineers and contributing to technical standards are expected parts of the role.
