Job summary

Thinkfolio is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to drive delivery, reliability, security and continuous improvement of Thinkfolio's cloud platform and CI/CD pipelines. You will own significant areas of the DevOps estate and work closely with Development, QA, Security and Infrastructure teams to improve release processes.

We are looking for strong cloud platform experience, IaC expertise and the ability to deliver production-ready automation that works across development, QA, UAT and production

Qualifications

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to play a key role in the delivery, reliability, security and continuous improvement of Thinkfolio's cloud platform, CI/CD pipelines, environments and operational tooling.

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly gain ownership of platform components and become a trusted technical contributor within the DevOps team. They will work closely with Development, QA, Security and Infrastructure teams to improve release processes, strengthen platform reliability, reduce operational risk and increase engineering productivity.

We are looking for someone with strong cloud platform and DevOps experience who understands how to build production-ready solutions, apply cloud and operational best practices, and deliver automation that works consistently across development, QA, UAT and production environments.

Job Responsibilities

DevOps Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Lead complex DevOps initiatives from design through implementation, deployment and operational support.
• Own significant areas of the DevOps estate including CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, automation, environments and operational tooling.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable and secure solutions.
• Break down complex work into clear deliverables and drive implementation to completion.
• Identify technical risks early and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans.

CI/CD, Automation & Release Excellence

• Design, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting Thinkfolio products and services.
• Drive automation of build, deployment, testing, monitoring and operational processes.
• Improve deployment reliability, consistency and release confidence.
• Ensure deployment workflows remain scalable, maintainable and aligned to engineering standards.
• Develop automation and scripting solutions that behave consistently across all pre-production and production environments.
• Ensure infrastructure, configuration and deployment processes are repeatable, predictable and validated across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments to minimise release risk and operational surprises.
• Design and implement solutions following cloud platform best practices for performance, reliability, security and cost efficiency.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve infrastructure utilisation and reduce unnecessary cloud spend.
• Support capacity planning, infrastructure optimisation, scalability, high availability and operational resilience.
• Ensure cloud resources are managed using Infrastructure as Code and repeatable deployment practices.
• Contribute to production hardening initiatives across infrastructure and platform services, including solutions are supportable, resilient and production-ready before release.

Security, Reliability & Operational Excellence

• Improve platform security through patching, vulnerability remediation and proactive risk reduction.
• Support incident investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures.
• Improve platform observability, monitoring, alerting and operational readiness.
• Ensure solutions are designed with reliability, scalability, maintainability and operational recoverability in mind.
• Reduce technical debt and operational burden through continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with Development, QA, Product, Infrastructure and Security teams.
• Build strong working relationships across geographically distributed teams.
• Clarify requirements and challenge assumptions where necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
• Communicate progress, risks, technical limitations and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Effectively prioritise multiple competing requests based on business impact, risk and urgency.
• Mentor DevOps Engineers through reviews, technical guidance, pairing and knowledge sharing.
• Promote engineering best practices across automation, cloud infrastructure and operational processes.
• Contribute to team documentation, standards and operational runbooks.
• Help raise overall quality, consistency and maturity within the DevOps function.
• Encourage effective adoption of AI-enabled tools where they improve productivity, quality or maintainability.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience in a Senior DevOps, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or Release Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platform in production environments, including infrastructure automation, platform scalability, high availability, patching, AMI management and operational resilience.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building reliable automation and scripting solutions that operate predictably and consistently across multiple environments.
• Experience implementing and supporting Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, vulnerability management, patching and operational risk reduction.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production and non-production environments.
• Experience delivering production hardening and platform resilience improvements.
• Experience designing and supporting scalable, highly available cloud platform solutions using appropriate load balancing, failover and resilience patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to balance quality, delivery timelines, operational considerations and cost management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with incomplete or evolving requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
