Job summary

Endava is seeking a Senior Development Consultant with a strong Java full stack background and proven leadership to guide our development team. The role emphasizes Spring Framework 6 and frontend React JS, paired with hands-on coding, mentoring, and architectural input.

You will design, implement, and safeguard scalable, secure software across SDLC phases, mentoring peers while delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software development and delivery.
• Proven experience leading software development teams (mentoring, task allocation, feedback).
• Strong Java development with Java 17 and minimum Java 8 compatibility.
• Deep knowledge of Spring Framework 6 and Spring Boot 3.
• Hands-on experience with TDD/BDD and JUnit, Mockito.
• Relational databases experience (DB2, Oracle).
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Experience with messaging systems (RabbitMQ, IBM MQ).
• Familiarity with Maven, Docker, Jenkins; Git and branching strategies.
• Understanding of secure coding standards (OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT).
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled, experiencedand motivated Senior Development Consultantto join and guide our development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Java Full Stack development, with proven expertise in the Spring Framework and frontend development using React JS. In addition, this role requires demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams, driving technical decisions, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex software projects.

The candidate will combine hands-on coding skills with the ability to mentor developers, participate in design discussions, and set technical direction to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction, guidance, and best practices across the development team.
• Mentor, coach, and support team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Allocate tasks effectively, balancing workload and ensuring timely delivery.
• Work closely with the Design Leads and Architecture team to design and validate technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance, reusable Java applications.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for relational databases such as DB2 or Oracle.
• Work with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
• Develop scalable solutions using microservices architecture to ensure modularity, availability, and ease of deployment in distributed systems.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs to enable backend-to-frontend integration
• Analyse requirements and propose effective technical solutions considering functional and non-functional requirements. Assist team members in clarifying requirements.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure test automation test automation (unit, integration, regression) is implemented and maintained.
• Ensure documentation of software components and code.
• Conduct and participate in peer code reviews and design discussions.
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of applications.
• Identify and address technical risks and issues; propose and implement practical solutions.
• Conduct demos and facilitate acceptance discussions with Product Owners to validate deliverables.
• Maintain a proactive attitude toward learning and adopting new tools and frameworks.

• Proven experience in leading software development teams (mentoring, task allocation, performance feedback).

• Experience inTest-Driven Development (TDD)andBehaviour-Driven Development (BDD)with hands-on use ofJUnitandMockito.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Apache Camel or other integration frameworks.
• Experience working in the Banking or Payments industry.
• Understanding of automation testing frameworks, with a willingness to learn, contribute to, and support the continuous improvement of the automation test suite.
