Scientific Games is seeking a Senior Databricks Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and evolve the engineering platform that supports our Databricks Lakehouse on AWS. You will focus on infrastructure as code, automation, and developer tooling to enable scalable data solutions across Dev, QA, UAT, Sandbox, and Production.

The role is hands‑on, aiming to improve platform reliability, security, and developer productivity through reusable capabilities and standardized pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• 8+ years in Platform/Infrastructure or DevOps with 4+ years hands-on Databricks experience.
• Expert in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience and Git workflows.
• Python or Bash automation skills and experience with reusable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Engineer reusable platform capabilities for self‑service provisioning and automated software delivery.

Job Summary

Scientific Games is seeking an experienced Senior Databricks Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and evolve the engineering platform supporting our enterprise data platform on Databricks running on AWS.

Working closely with the Principal Analytics Engineer and Principal Enterprise Data Architect, this role is responsible for building the infrastructure, automation, and platform services that enable engineering teams to develop, test, deploy, and operate scalable data solutions efficiently and consistently. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, environment management, developer tooling, platform automation, and secure software delivery.

This is a highly hands‑on engineering role. The successful candidate is expected to spend most of their time engineering reusable platform capabilities, automating software delivery, improving developer productivity, and continuously enhancing the reliability, security, and scalability of the Databricks engineering platform.

Success requires deep expertise in Databricks, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, platform automation, and modern software delivery practices, along with the ability to influence engineering standards through technical leadership and collaboration.

Owns the infrastructure engineering and developer platform capabilities supporting the Databricks Lakehouse Platform on AWS.

Job Duties / Key Accountabilities

Platform Engineering

• Engineer reusable platform capabilities that enable self-service environment provisioning and automated software delivery.
• Develop reusable templates, shared libraries, and engineering tooling.
• Standardize engineering practices, repository structures, and platform configurations.
• Continuously improve developer experience across the platform.

Infrastructure Engineering

• Engineer Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Build reusable infrastructure modules and automate environment provisioning.
• Manage Development, QA, UAT, Sandbox, and Production environments.
• Support workspace lifecycle and configuration management.

Software Delivery Engineering

• Build CI/CD pipelines supporting Databricks engineering.
• Implement Databricks Asset Bundles (DAB), Databricks Workflows, and release automation.
• Engineer deployment, rollback, validation, and recovery capabilities.
• Standardize Git workflows and software delivery practices.

Databricks Platform Engineering

• Engineer cluster policies, compute standards, runtime management, and reusable platform configurations.
• Improve platform scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Evaluate new Databricks capabilities and recommend platform improvements.

Platform Security & Observability

• Engineer secrets management, identity integration, and secure deployment patterns.
• Implement deployment monitoring, engineering dashboards, diagnostics, and operational metrics.
• Partner with Information Security to strengthen platform security.

Technical Leadership

• Lead technical reviews for platform engineering solutions.
• Mentor engineers on platform engineering, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Establish engineering standards supporting automation and software delivery.
• Partner with the Principal Data Engineer and Principal Enterprise Data Architect.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical estimation, and engineering coordination.

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or DevOps experience.
• 4+ years of hands‑on Databricks experience.
• Expert Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong Databricks Asset Bundles (DAB), Databricks Workflows, and CI/CD experience.
• Strong AWS platform engineering experience.
• Strong Git workflows, release engineering, and software delivery practices.
• Python or Bash automation experience.
• Experience engineering reusable developer platforms and tooling.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
