Job summary

Amgen India is expanding its Data Science capabilities in Hyderabad. As a Senior Data Science Engineer, you will lead the development of data pipelines, ML solutions, and analytic applications that support critical business and scientific decisions.

This role blends technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable, high-quality analytics. You will design production-grade analytics, train users, and contribute to engineering best practices across the organization,

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or similar field.
• 8 to 13 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or Data Scientist.
• Experience developing production quality analytic solutions.
• An understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or similar field.
• Proven ability to write robust code in R / Python.
• Experience with common ML algorithms and approaches and when to use them.
• Proficiency in Linux OS and shell commands.
• Experience in globally dispersed teams.
• Knowledge of industry data standards (CDISC SDTM, CDISC ADaM, HL7 BRIDG, OMOP).
• Experience with distributed compute (Spark, Dask), DevOps (Git), cloud deployments, entrepreneurial mindset, and translating complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists to analyze models and algorithms for improving clinical trials.
• Design, write, and test data AI / ML pipelines and analytic solutions.
• Collect business requirements / user stories for enhancements.
• Train users in CfDA Data Science solutions.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Amgen is expanding its global Data Science capabilities, with Amgen India (AIN) playing a key role in integrated delivery and functional leadership. As a Senior Data Science Engineer, you will lead the development and implementation of data pipelines, machine learning solutions, and analytic applications that support critical business and scientific decisions. This role combines technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions, enhance user adoption, and advance engineering best practices across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with data scientists to analyze and select appropriate data models and algorithms that focus on improving clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas leveraging diverse data
• Designing, writing, and testing data AI / ML pipelines and other advanced analytic / visualization solutions
• Collect business requirements / user stories for new or enhancements to existing analytic solutions
• Train users in the use of solutions provided by the CfDA Data Science organization
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Adhere to Amgen Policies, SOPs, and other controlled documents.
• Participate in the development and review of CfDA Data Sciences Policies, SOPs, and other controlled documents.
• Participate in external professional organizations, conferences and/or meetings.

Accountabilities:

• Contribute to the implementation of internally developed and externally provided analytic solutions
• Participate in the development of innovative and effective approaches to solve client's analytics problems and communicate results & methodologies
• Recommend ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that generate analytic insights

This position is currently located at Amgen India (Hyderabad).

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or similar field
• 8 to 13 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or Data Scientist
• Experience developing production quality advance analytic solutions
• An understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture

Preferred Skills:

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or similar field
• A proven ability to write robust code in R / Python
• A working understanding of common machine learning algorithms and approaches (NNs, RF classifiers, Ensemble methods, NLP etc.) and when to use them.
• Proficiency in Linux operating system and associated shell commands.
• Experience working effectively in a globally dispersed team environment.
• A working knowledge of one or more relevant industry data standards (e.g., CDISC SDTM, CDISC ADaM, HL7 BRIDG, OMOP)
• Drug Development (pre-, early, late and/or observational) in related industries or academic research)
• Experience working with:
• Distributed compute / data technology (e.g., Spark, Python Dask)
• DevOps frameworks (e.g., Git)
• Building and deploying analytic solutions in a cloud environment
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to self-direct
• A translator able to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience
