As a Senior Data Governance Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining Aviatrix’s data governance framework. This position will have a significant impact on our data infrastructure by promoting best practices, enhancing data transparency, and establishing policies that enable seamless cross-functional collaboration. You will work independently with various teams to implement data governance solutions and ensure our data meets the highest standards of quality and compliance. The role requires flexibility to align with USA working hours (including until midnight IST) to effectively collaborate with global teams.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Data Governance Framework: Design, implement, and manage an efficient, scalable data governance framework that promotes data quality, security, and compliance.
• Data Quality & Compliance: Develop and enforce data quality and validation processes across the organization to maintain high standards in data reliability and usability.
• Data Cataloging & Lineage : Establish and maintain data cataloging practices, ensuring complete data lineage across all data sources, including MySQL, Snowflake, and other platforms.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact for data governance, collaborating with Data Engineering, Product Innovation, and Security teams. Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision to implement end-to-end data governance solutions.
• Security & Access Controls: Work with the DevOps and Security teams to ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) by implementing appropriate access controls and permissions.
• Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on data governance policies, data lineage, and best practices to promote a data-driven culture.
• Proactive Monitoring: Continuously monitor data pipelines and alert relevant teams of any potential issues related to data quality, lineage, or compliance.
• Tool Evaluation: Identify and recommend tools and technologies that support data cataloging, quality monitoring, and metadata management to enhance governance capabilities.
• Metrics & KPIs: Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data governance and quality, sharing insights and recommendations to improve data processes.
• Global Collaboration & Flexibility: Be willing to work in USA hours (including until midnight IST) to effectively collaborate with global teams and drive data governance initiatives.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Data Governance Focus

• Experience with data governance tools, metadata management platforms, and best practices for establishing a data-driven culture.
• Thorough understanding of compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and proven ability to implement data security and privacy measures.
• Experience with data quality frameworks and a track record of designing and monitoring data quality solutions at scale.

Additional Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with data warehousing platforms (Snowflake, AWS Redshift, MySQL).
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation of data processes.
• Experience working with large-scale data in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Bonus: Experience working with Azure services (e.g., Azure databases, data lakes).

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Data Governance or a similar role, with hands-on experience in implementing data governance practices.
