Job summary

Systems Plus in Pune, India, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead data platforms and collaborate with architects, developers, analysts and scientists to deliver scalable analytics solutions. You will mentor a data engineering team, design robust data architectures on Azure/AWS, build with Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Airflow and Kafka, and optimize data delivery across multiple client projects.

Strong PySpark, Python and SQL skills are required; 3+ years of experience; graduate degree

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines.
• Proficient in PySpark, Python and SQL.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Airflow and Kafka.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics or information systems.

Role & responsibilities

What Youll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer you will:

• Support our solution architects, software developers, data analysts and data scientists on data and analytics initiatives
• Serve in a lead capacity on client initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in building modern data platforms that leverage Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric
• Should be proficient in PySpark, Python and SQL
• Highly prefer skills in designing, developing, and implementing data engineering solutions using Databricks on cloud platforms, and/ or skilled in working across Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse)
• Strong experience designing data models that meets business needs that meets design guidelines and standards is a must
• Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
• Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc
• Leveraging the appropriate infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and ‘big data’ technologies
• Building analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
• Working with stakeholders including the Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
• 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
• Demonstrated ability with big data tools including Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Airflow, and Kafka
• Expertise with Azure or AWS cloud services
