Job summary

Cognite is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to tackle large-scale data challenges in industrial domains. You will design and implement scalable data pipelines using Cognite Data Fusion, and collaborate with data scientists, solution architects and project managers to deliver impactful data-enabled solutions for power, utilities, energy, and manufacturing.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in customer-facing data roles, strong Python/SQL and REST APIs experience, and proficiency with Kubernetes and

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or a related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in a customer-facing data-intensive role.
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines using Python, SQL and REST APIs.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (GCP and/or Azure).
• DevOps mindset with Git, CI/CD and deployment environments.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and independently investigate problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions using Cognite Data Fusion.
• Drive integrations, data modeling, and analysis using Cognite connectors and REST APIs.
• Create data models for data discovery, mapping, cleansing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, project managers and solution architects to deliver projects.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code and deliveries.
• Support customers and partners in data engineering tasks with Cognite products.
• Contribute to Cognite’s official tools and SDKs.
• Turn customer needs into a prioritized product pipeline.

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data engineering solutions using our platform Cognite Data Fusion®.
• Drive and manage integrations, extractions, data modeling, and analysis using Cognite data connectors and SQL, Python/Java and Rest APIs.
• Create custom data models for data discovery, mapping, and cleansing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, project managers and solution architects engineers on project deliveries to enable our customers to achieve the full potential of our industrial dataops platform.
• Conduct code reviews and implement best practices to ensure high-quality and maintainable code and deliveries.
• Support customers and partners in conducting data engineering tasks with Cognite products.
• Contribute to the development of Cognite’s official tools and SDKs.
• Collaborate with our Engineering and Product Management teams to turn customer needs into a prioritized pipeline of product offerings.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or similar. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in a customer-facing Data intense role
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines using e.g. Python, SQL and Rest APIs
• Experience with distributed computing such as Kubernetes and managed cloud services such as GCP and/or Azure
• Domain experience/knowledge of data sources within oil and gas & manufacturing industry is a plus
• Have a DevOps mindset, and experience with Git, CI/CD, deployment environments
• Enjoys working in cross-functional teams
• Able to independently investigate and solve problems
• Humility to ask for help and enjoy sharing knowledge with others
