Job summary

Fidelity International in Bangalore is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust Oracle-based data solutions while integrating with cloud services. You will lead end-to-end data pipelines and mentor a small team, ensuring data quality and scalable architecture.

Participants will apply deep Oracle expertise, automate tasks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across global locations in an Agile environment, with flexible working options.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with Oracle databases, including advanced SQL/PL/SQL development.
• Ability to reverse engineer existing database schemas and understand complex data relationships.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and database design.
• Proficiency with Python for data processing and automation.
• Experience implementing data quality controls and validation frameworks.
• Experience with ETL processes and workflow orchestration tools (preferably Control-M).
• Version control experience (Git/GitHub).
• Knowledge of investment management concepts, risk, and fund data.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of end-to-end data solutions for Oracle-based systems with cloud integration.
• Provide technical oversight to a data engineering team within project delivery.
• Create and maintain robust data pipelines (ETL) with quality controls.
• Document database designs and configurations for knowledge sharing.
• Lead code reviews and establish best practices for database development.
• Collaborate with Data Architects on long-term data strategy and cloud integration (AWS S3).

ISS Delivery provides the design and delivery of all changes in processes and/or technology solutions that support the growth for Fidelity’s Global Investment Solutions & Services business (ISS). We support Investment Management, Asset Management Operations and Distribtion team primarily located in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Toronto, Australia, Singapore and China.

About your role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team, focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data solutions primarily using Oracle technologies while integrating with modern cloud services. This role bridges our existing data infrastructure with evolving cloud-based systems, requiring both deep database expertise and adaptability to new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Experience in Reverse Engineering and understanding complex data relationships, ( Legacy Technologies and Transitioning to modern cloud based solutions )
• Manage stakeholder expectations and articulate trade-offs, timelines and decisions
• Ownership of the design and development of end-to-end data solutions for Oracle-based systems and provide technical oversight to a small team of data engineers as part of project delivery
• Create and maintain efficient data pipelines for extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes, Implement data quality controls and validation processes to ensure data integrity
• Document database designs, procedures, and configurations to support knowledge sharing and system maintenance.
• Lead code reviews and contribute to define practices for database development
• Work closely with Data Architects to collaborate on the long term data strategy of the team, Integrate Oracle systems with cloud services, particularly AWS S3 and related technologies
• Demonstrated ability to work within Agile development methodologies

Essential Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of experience with Oracle databases, including advanced SQL and PL/SQL development (stored procedures, functions, packages)
• Ability to reverse engineer existing database schemas and understand complex data relationships
• Strong knowledge of data modeling principles, database design, and data warehousing concepts
• Proficiency with Python for data processing, automation, and
• Experience implementing and maintaining data quality controls, reconciliations, and data validation frameworks
• Experience with ETL processes and workflow orchestration tools, preferably Control-M ,
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git/GitHub
• Knowledge of investment management industry concepts, investment Risk, Potfolio Analysis , security master, fund reference data, transactions, orders, holdings, asset classes, and fund accounting

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience with Oracle APEX development and application support Unix/Linux shell scripting skills for automation and data processing
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated database deployments ,Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.)
• Experience with AWS services, particularly S3, Lambda, and Step Functions Exposure to front-office risk platforms
• Knowledge of database security and access control best practices , Database performance tuning and query optimization .
• Strong troubleshooting, familiarity with production support, and incident management skills
• Excellent written communication skills for technical documentation and knowledge sharing
