Qualifications

  • 6+ years of data analysis and decision support with Power BI in financial services.

  • Strong SQL and programming knowledge; cloud data solutions desirable.

  • Job Purpose

As a Data Decision Partner, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You will collaborate closely with the business teams to understand their strategic goals and help them into actionable data insights. The role will focus on being a knowledgeable business partner to provide data insights and products that support the strategic goals of the business functions.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with key business stakeholders to understand their data needs and challenges.
  • Collaborate with business teams to identify opportunities and translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of data using market standard algorithms and modelling techniques.
  • Ensuring Data Governance standards, polices and controls are built into analytical practices.
  • Ensure data analysis and content is delivered on time and to expected quality with appropriate documentation.
  • Advise and contribute to delivery planning of projects for all Data Analytics elements
  • Work alongside other internal teams to train and migrate them to use data platforms and solutions
  • Continually look for innovative ways to make improvements based on the latest trends and research, esp. on AI and Machine learning
  • Working closely with Data Engineering and Architecture teams adhering to standards and guidelines
  • Prepare, present and effectively communicate on data analytics issues and trends to senior forums and management committees
  • Identify risks and issues and elevate to Line manager.
  • Research and promote relevant data tools and processes that contribute to increased efficiency and capability in support of corporate objectives.
  • Promote a culture that embraces change, continuous improvement and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Establish effective working relationships with other internal teams to drive improved efficiency and effective processes.
  • Mentoring of team members with valuable inputs and advice on handling data solutions
  • Training of business stakeholders on how best to use and interpret data analysis
  • Be a champion for high quality information and use of our central data repositories, associated relational model, and Data Warehouse for optimising the delivery of accurate, consistent and reliable business intelligence
  • Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation’s Risk Management Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day-to-day work that you put customers at the heart of everything you do.
  • Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation’s Data Governance Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day-to-day work that you treat data as an important corporate asset which must be protected and managed.
  • Maintain the company’s compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.
  • Experience Requirements
  • 6+ years’ experience of applying data analysis and decision support services using Power BI to a Financial Services organisation is essential
  • 5+ years’ experience in Data analytics techniques and concepts including MI, BI, Analytics, visualisation, dash boarding is essential
  • Strong programming and query language (including SQL) is essential
  • Experience using cloud data solutions is desirable
  • Statistical knowledge is desirable
  • Knowledge Requirements
  • A strong knowledge of data solutions and an ability to translate this into solutions for the broader business is essential
  • Understanding of high level business processes is essential
  • Background in financial services and a robust knowledge and experience of banking data sets. Understanding of data related regulation including BCBS239 / IRB is desirable
  • Skill and Competency Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement is essential
  • Ability to build strong professional customer-centric relationships at all levels of the organisation is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex data issues and architectures clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders is essential.
  • Ability to present to senior committees is essential.
  • Good listening skills are essential
  • Excellent organisational skills are essential
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively is essential
  • Flexible approach and attitude is essential
  • Required Qualifications/Certifications
  • GSCE/GCE qualifications in both Maths and English are essential
  • Computing / statistical related degree or equivalent is desirable
