Job summary

EXL is seeking a Data Quality & Governance professional to implement governance capabilities within a Property & Casualty insurance environment. You will lead IDMC-based governance, metadata management, and data quality across Claims, Legal, and Regulatory domains.

The role requires hands-on IDMC experience, governance operating models, and strong cross-team collaboration with IT, analytics, and compliance to ensure trusted, discoverable data for business and regulatory use.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of experience in data management, data governance, or enterprise data programs.
  • 2+ years of hands-on IDMC experience, including enterprise-scale implementations.
  • Strong Property & Casualty insurance domain expertise (Claims).
  • Deep knowledge of: Metadata management & data cataloging
  • Data stewardship models
  • Data lineage and traceability
  • Data quality governance
  • Proven ability to work across business, IT, data engineering, analytics, and compliance teams
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and executive-level presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define and mature the enterprise data governance strategy, roadmap, and operating model for P&C insurance data domains (Claims and Legal).
  • Establish data ownership, data stewardship, governance councils, and decision forums across business and technology.
  • Drive governance adoption aligned with business outcomes such as underwriting accuracy, claims efficiency, regulatory reporting, and analytics enablement.
  • IDMC implementation and configuration including glossary, catalog, lineage, workflows, and integration with cloud platforms, data lakes, analytics tools, and core insurance systems.
  • Manage IDMC environments (Dev/Test/Prod) and promote best practices.
  • Ensure consistent documentation of critical data elements (CDEs) across P&C domains.
  • Enable end-to-end data lineage from core systems to downstream analytics and reporting platforms.
  • Improve data discoverability and self-service analytics through standardized metadata and taxonomy.
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness).
  • Establish governance processes for data quality issue identification, triage, remediation, and tracking.
  • Work with IT and analytics teams to embed data quality controls into data pipelines and reporting workflows.
  • Support data governance requirements aligned with state insurance regulations, privacy laws, and internal risk controls.
  • Enable classification and governance of regulated and sensitive data used in underwriting, claims, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure audit-ready data practices.

  • We are seeking a Data quality and Governance professional with deep experience in IDMC and enterprise data governance tools to implement data governance capabilities within a Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance environment. This role will be closely partnered with Claims, Legal, and Compliance to ensure data is trusted, compliant, discoverable, and fit for business and regulatory use.
  • The ideal candidate brings hands-on IDMC implementation experience, and proven leadership in establishing governance operating models, stewardship, metadata management, and data quality across complex data ecosystems while insurance domain knowledge is preferred.

      • Partner with engineering teams to integrate Collibra with cloud platforms, data lakes, analytics tools, and core insurance systems.
      • Manage IDMC environments (Dev/Test/Prod) and promote best practices.
  • Metadata, Lineage & Discoverability
    • Ensure consistent documentation of critical data elements (CDEs) across P&C domains.
    • Enable end-to-end data lineage from core systems (Policy Admin, Claims, Billing) to downstream analytics and reporting platforms.
