Qualifications

• B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering.
• 8–12+ years of hydraulic analysis and design experience.
• Experience on water infrastructure, barrages, or hydroelectric/dam projects.
• Proficient in industry-standard hydraulic modeling software.
• Knowledge of dam engineering guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

• Hydraulic Modeling & Analysis: conduct advanced 1D, 2D, and 3D modeling to simulate flow dynamics and reservoir operations.
• Hydraulic Design of dam structures: lead design of spillways, stilling basins, intakes and related components.
• Dam Safety & Risk Assessment: perform dam break analysis and hydraulic capacity assessments.
• Cross-Discipline Coordination: work with geotechnical, structural, and environmental teams to integrate hydraulic requirements.
• Project & Team Leadership: manage scope, schedules, budgets; mentor junior engineers.

A Senior Dam Design Engineer (Hydraulics) leads the conceptualization, modeling, and detailed design of hydraulic structures for dams and reservoirs, such as spillways, intakes, and energy dissipators. This role demands expertise in advanced hydraulic modeling, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant water infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Hydraulic Modeling & Analysis: Conduct advanced 1D, 2D, and 3D hydraulic modeling (e.g., using HEC-RAS, Flow-3D, or ANSYS CFD) to simulate flow dynamics, flood routing, and reservoir operations.
• Hydraulic Design of different dam structures: Lead the design of complex hydraulic appurtenances including spillways, stilling basins, intake/outlet works including hydropower intakes, tunnels, and diversion schemes and channels.
• Dam Safety & Risk Assessment: Perform dam break analysis, hydraulic capacity assessments and contribute to Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMA) and dam safety evaluations.
• Cross-Discipline Coordination: Work seamlessly with geotechnical, structural, and environmental engineering teams to integrate hydraulic requirements into the broader dam design.
• Project & Team Leadership: Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets. Mentor junior engineers and review technical specifications, drawings, and reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech. in Water Resources Engineering.
• Experience: 8–12+ years of progressive experience in hydraulic analysis and design focused on water infrastructure, barrages, or hydroelectric/dam projects.
• Technical Software Skills: Mastery of industry-standard modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Flow-3D, Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of dam engineering guidelines and standards (e.g., ICOLD, USBR, FERC, or regional equivalents).
• Analytical Skills: Strong foundation in open-channel hydraulics, and hydrology.
• Communication: Exceptional technical writing and presentation skills for client meetings.
